It seems as if none of them are pitching well with even the slightest consistency of late.I'll concur that the offense owes the starters at least as much as the bullpen.Let's play some playoff ball NOW!!!!
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) Heilman had some tough luck in that inning, but it just seems that the bullpen is struggling in mass recently.Feliciano certainly didn't get the job done tonight. Edited August 28, 2007 by Guest
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 My wife is sitting here ripping Heilman up and down (she's never been a fan)... but that really wasn't his fault. I don't even know that I blame LoDuca entirely; would have been very different if Jose Reyes had actually backed up second base the way he's supposed to on stolen base attempts.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 If we don't get it done here, I have ZERO faith that our pen will hold them in the ninth -- especially if we see Mota in there.
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Why watch if you think it's over?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Edgy - "I'll concur that the offense owes the starters at least as much as the bullpen."The offense is definitely not blameless. Six hits in 9 innings is pretty sad, particularly when the starting pitching has 2 of them.Oh shit, it's Mota in the ninth. I hope that advice he received from Pedro regarding his understriding pays dividends tonight.

I follow along on Yahoo, and WFAN via the MLB radio package.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I know how you feel. I live precariously through the IGT's and MLB gamecasts most of the time. Other than nationally televised games, I can only see the Mets when they play the Cubs or Braves.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 My apologies to Mr. Mota. He got the job done.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 How 'bout that Mota? One inning is enough, Willie.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 He followed it, zero faith and all.Top of the order. Let's get five.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Pedro for pitching coach. He fixed Mota in under 10 minutes and he did it from Florida.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 This would be going much better if Reyes & Wright weren't taking the series off.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Hitting one out of the infield would be cool.
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 mgim:>>>Technically, I'm not watching<<<I think it's a fair question, I really meant why pay attention? You don't haveto answer in the IGT, it's about the game, but when someone says they haveZERO kahnfidence in the outcome of something and they're somewhat newI don't think it's inappropriate to ask what's making them tick.

I watch because I'm a diehard and I want them to win. But I'm frustrated that our pen, so good last year, seems to be blowing games left and right. And Mota has been terrible. I'm thrilled he proved me wrong. I was ROOTING for him to prove me wrong.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 There's just a lot of careless hating going on the IGTs lately is all.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 What's the record for shitty hit in one game?Whatever it is I think the Phils are closing in.

We need this one, and we let it get away.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I was right the first time. Bleeping Mota.
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I hope the 'team to beat' has gotten the Mets attention. They got mine.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 That's 3 straight games with only 2 runs scored in each - and not exactly against a murderer's row of starters.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) All losses may count the same in the standings, but this one seems particularly damaging (demoralizing) to me. Glavine gave the Mets a great start and the offense failed to produce and the bullpen again failed to hold a lead to secure a victory. Edited August 28, 2007 by Guest
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Phillies are playing some good ball,Myers surprised me with all the off-speed stuff, looked good the fecker...
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 It's too bad Myers is a head case; he's going to blow up in a big spot down the road, and it's going to be ugly.I tried to warn Willie about leaving Mota in for another inning, but he forgot to log into the Pool between innings.
