I was blessed to be present at Tom Seaver's 300th win, and it was wonderful to see him go all the way.

Then I was in Detroit for one of the games when the bastard Clemens went for 300th. He departed early with a lead, and Jeter and Soriano threw the ball around and allowed the Tigers -- enroute to 119 losses -- to tie the game, which went 17 innings before the vile ones finally won. Pretty much a bad day all around.

Here's hoping our pen and D can get it done for Tommy.

Are the boys wearing gray or black tonight?

Out of the seventh, Gary says "Glavine can go ice his arm," which sounds like a bit of an insult if you don't know the context.

Glavine to Cohen: Go soak your head.

How about a few insurance runs team? It would sure make me feel better and it would probably help Glavine's digestion.

Alou swings at none of the first four pitches he sees, somehow. Moishe on first.

This guy should not have been able to bust Delgado inside like that.

People watching who didn't know the context wouldn't care.

I'd be surprised if Glavine left the bench but I missed a few minutes and
don't know if he's on it.

The Mets offense seems determined to make us sweat this one out.

Looks like this one is going to depend on our pen because the offense sure isn't going to do anything.

If I see Schoenweis even thinking about warming up, I'm gonna scream.

Heilman back out for a 2nd inning. With Smith in AAA, Feliciano struggling recently and Mota being subpar all year, I wonder if we really needed a setup man a lot more than a secondbaseman...

Nah, let him sweat it out. It'll be the closest he'll get to going 9 and he'll know that his pitching made the difference.

Willie has buried Schoeneweis deeper than Godzilla recently. And that's after a month of good pitching.

A solid reliever wouls have been my prefernce.

Heilman needs to get through the meat and potatoes of the Brewers line up. Hardy and Fielder both due up this inning.

Mota and Feliciano are getting ready.

Edit: Gary suggests Feliciano is getting ready for Fielder.

There really is a playoff atmosphere to this game.

That is the Mets aren't scoring.

Warren Wallace the GEICO race-car kid = funny.
The Verizon Fios kid = Back over him in the driveway please.

Indeed. He lost the sling a couple of days ago but it still looks like he might not be able to signal for a righty.
