Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 The Mets win is in the books 3-0 over the Tigers.Alfonso Soriano is putting a beat down on the Braves staff. He is 3-3 with three solo home runs. The Cubs are up by a score of 6-1 through 5 innings in Atlanta. The Royals lead the Phillies 6-3 in the bottom of the third.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Soriano's 3 HRs were all in the first 4 innings. He was intentionally walked in AB #4.Braves batting now in bottom 6, Cubs lead 6-1Being the road team also means that he won't lose a potential 9th inning ABYanx-Pirates tied at 4 thru 7 -- X Nady with an early HR
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Pirates scored two runs on a Chris Duffy inside-the-parker: Line drive at Melky in CF and he couldn't deal.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Hah.I saw the Pirates and the Nats twice this week, and they had a lot in common. Both with talented shortstops --- Wilson, Lopez --- that seemingly forgot how to hit. Both with centerfielders --- Duffy, Logan --- that cover miles of outfield on defense but are completely out of their depths against major league pitching. And Duffy hurt the Yankees? Hah.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 MFYs have a guy at 2nd, 0 outs in the 10th.Uh, man on 3rd, 1 out.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 These days, Triple Happiness for me is Mets win, Braves lose, Phillies lose.Trippel Happiness is when I have three Belgian ales.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Jeez.Cano leads off with a double, bunted to third.Cairo follows with a weak-ass little dribbler to 3rd but the Pirate 3Bman is spooked and makes no play -- 1st & 3rd 1 out when shouldabeen 3rd,m 2 out.Cairo steal, Damon int. walk, Jeter weak ass dribbler to 2nd, game over
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Bautista wasn't much with the glove.Freddy Sanchez, defending batting average titlest, switches between second and third, but he's a poor man's Fonzie --- good hands but no lateral movement.Jack Wilson has to cover a lot of ground on that team.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 The Giants, in their game with Oakland Friday night, ran out of position players AND catchers at the same time. They finished the game using 3Bman Pedro Feliz behind the plate, Pitcher Noah Lowry in the OF, and Randy Winn from the OF to 3rd.Giants had double-switched their starting catcher out in the 5th inning then got burned whent he replacement got hurt in the 10th. Oakland then immediately scored twice (no apparent relation to the position changes) and so they only had to play that way for the remainder of the inning as they didn't score in the bottom and therefore lost.Would have been cool to see that one go another few innings.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I just read about that now on MLB.com. Amazing. The emergency catcher apparently is Kevin Frandsen, who left the game as a PH in the 9th. The article said Feliz got tips from Molina before he went behind the plate (keep your hand behind your back, etc.) but said he looked fantastic, even blocking a nasty breaking pitch in the dirt. Winn's only action was a foul pop-up, which he caught. Lowry got none, but ended the game striking out.Cool stuff.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I watched that game-- Feliz did great, backhanding a low pitch in the dirt.
