Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 First of all, credit to the Sand Gnats website. It's a font of information compared to most of the Mets other affilliates. That's not entirely the fault of the Zephyrs and company, because minor league baseball is going the way of MLB, and unifying all minor-league team sites under one domain and a universal template. The Gnats remain online-independent thus far probably because the minor-league baseball folks consider AAA to be the top priority.Anyhow, as much about how much I prefer the site of a low-A outfit, it's kind of lame-o that --- rather than featuring Matt Durkin or Leivi Ventura or Tim Teufel on their splash page they feature a guy who played with them under a previous affiliation, and hasn't played with them since 1999 --- Travis Hafner. Now if you're like me, those inscriptions on the batt handle are a curiosity, so I employed the power of GBT (Greg Brady Technology) and discovered Pronk's a closet Tom Glavine fan, not to mention something of a dork:He hit 28 homers for the Gnats in 1999, so maybe scored with half of Savannah.I guess that's a more current reference in 1999, but come on. Let's get a future Met up there.

Essentially Mark was getting all the attention so Glavine and Maddux decided to do some "extra training." The punch line though was that despite their new BP power (which gave way to the catch phrase) Heather was still interested in Mark McGwire!

Batty31 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 I have NEVER seen that ad before. Thanks, OlerudOwned! Now it all makes sense... Editing: And thanks, Steve.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 We think Edgy was making reference to the ad and not to his personal take on Hafner's attractiveness (although ya never know)
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 That is still one of the funniest sports commercials ever.
