nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 i'm gonna plug the stats into a program tommorow to get a "prediction" for the year, i'm just curious though, if you could each name one team OTHER than yourself that you think came away strongest from the draft, who would it be?i'll pick the P-funk Allstars.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Not sold on his pitching..I'll pick Fairfield Stags..pretty solid team all round.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 really? i'd put him last unless he gets some closers, if you dump saves (or any category) you need to be STRONG (to the point of 1st or 2nd) in all the other categories, and i'm definetaly not seeing that with him.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Last?..wow...I'll have to take a closer look when I get home...but there didn't seem to be any one team that jumped out at me.It's interesting how we both see Fairfield's Stags team so differently.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 well did you miss his lack of closers? with 13 teams thats 130 points that everyone can shoot for... except steve who is shooting at only 118 to start with, and i just don't think his offense is more than average (an "average" offense producing 6-8 points in a each category) at best while his starting pitching might be strong, but lets not count on the randy-revival just yet.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I must have missed his lack of closers, what's your opinion of my team,I made some wavier moves last night, hoping they go through today.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 you look strong, my biggest concerns would be the health of both your closers (along with the chances of the repeatedly rumored benitez trade to happen) and the reliability of some of your hitters (rivera, alou, podsednik who you are really counting on in steals)you should probbly eagerly pounce on any closer that becomes available even if you have to give up waiver priority. i'd also keep brian wilson onyour watch list and add him the moment there seems to be an issue with benitez.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Thanks for the vote of confidence, Nymr! I kind of agree with irish about my pitching--in general, I drafted pretty young, which means I've got some question marks. I'm also extremely weak on closers. As in I only have one. I personally think Gagne will do alright, but I'm going to need to jump quick on replacement closers as soon as they come available. Irish, I think you've got a pretty powerful team from head to toe, but you lack some depth in the pitching department. Benitez & Dotel are question marks, but I think they'll rack up enough saves to keep you in the game. I agree that Fairfield's lack of closers will hurt him, and he's got some dead wood on his bench, IMO. Other than that, he's pretty strong. All in all, I like Vic's team quite a bit. His lineup is pretty killer, with a good mix of speed and power, and he's got a solid bunch of closers. His rotation's a little top-heavy, but I do think Capps & Lilly have some upside. And he's got enough hitting depth that he can trade for pitching if he has to. He's my pick for the team to beat, although I'm fond of the youngsters, which he drafted pretty heavily, so I'm biased. Nymr, I think you've got a great team as well. Pretty solid lineup, although you might struggle with BA a little, and your pitching should be tight, although I'm not sold on Francis or Padilla. Looking forward to the season!
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 i like francis and i'd love the guy if he found a way out of pitcher hell. i hope padilla crashes and burns along with the rest of the phillies, but i'm content to keep him in there until that happens as i expect Duke to step things up.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I think I got rid of Dotel on waivers ,not interested on a closer for KC...plus he's kinda crap.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I kept Dotel,my waiver requests came through today, dropped Hillenbrand for Dellucci and Loretta for Milledge....slim pickings out there on the wire.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 The race to avoid last place will be interesting, fantasy baseball is crazy,I am in three other leagues, one in yahoo the other two in CBS,the two teams I would have thought would do well are placing last or close to last, while the two teams I thought would struggle are third and second.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2007 Author Posted May 22, 2007 well i'm 3rd, 5th, and 7th in my other yahoo leagues and 4th (of 10) in my only league that really matters, the NL-only league for money. not a great year so far but things still have time to turn around
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Nymr83 wrote:rotblatt has correctly picked vic as the team to beat earlyWell, its still early. My pitching is strong, but the hitting is mediocre. Beltran has gone ice cold. I'm being carried by JETER, fer crissakes! Do you know how hard it is to be happy about that?
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Vic- Who's the chick smiling at me from your avatar? I'm quite sure I've seen pics of you wearing a beard. Have you gone Victoria Sage on us?
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 i knew it was too good to last....anybody got a power hitter for sale?

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Anyone trade for Pujols,I overhauled my pitching staff,I dunno but I'm disheartened about my team. One thing I have noticed about rotisserie leagues is that the table doesn't change all that much after things settle down and the season gets going.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Last year I started June in 14th and ended June in 3rd, so it's still pretty early.
