A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Saw this yesterday and thought it was fantastic. It's part fairy tale, part war drama, part horror film, and all of it's dark and scary as childhood wonderment and fantasy collides with the harsh world-is-a-rotting-shitbox reality of adulthood. Great looking film, cool story (if a little "Legend of Zelda" with the tasks), great acting (especially the lead girl "Ofelia" and the head maid "Mercedes"), and a super ending. One of the cooler movies I've seen in a while.

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 i'm really looking forward to this one.I love Del Toro's films.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I loved this movie. It's really dark, and disturbing on a visceral level, but at its heart, it's just a well-told, well-crafted, beautifully shot story. The acting is excellent, too--I was particularly impressed with the young heroine.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Great movie. Both the fascist and the fairy tale parts of it work very well.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 finally saw it. I was a little disappointed. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I wanted less of WWII fascist Italy and more of pan's labrynth. But it was definitely worth seeing. The ending is quite moving.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Just watched this tonight, not what I expected at all but quite good and moving at the end.
