1984, veterans. gooden against the phils. i snuck down to the box seats and sat down in front of a mother w/her 3 kids. i was wearing neutral colors. we were crushing and at the first hint that i was a met fan, she screamed bloody murder to have me removed (the oldest of her kids was 8 at the most). the worst part about it was that she was hot looking.

Never had a bad experience at an apposing teams game in baseball..my worst experience ever was going to Ibrox to watch Glasgow Celtic play Glasgow Rangers back in the early ninties.....I don't think I can express enough how Glasgow is on the day they play each other....boat loads of people travel over from Ireland,Catholic to support Celtic and Protestant for Rangers...the feeling is unreal....the Rangers fans sing a song that goes like this......

]

"Fuck the pope"
"Up to my knees in Fenian blood"

leaving the ground is scary..on the other hand ging to Celtic Park for the same fixture is a belssing.

How does that relate to this story?

My worst story was that sometime in the early 1990's we were in Three Rivers when the Pirates clinched against the Mets. Not a fun day.

And all the vendors and ushers, etc, were hot looking, so it made it even worse.

See how stupid that sounds?

my apologies if you didn't like the way i described the incident, but she really was quite the hottie.

those of us who are male needed to know that she was hot to properly imagine the story.

I think cooby's wondering why her hotness made it the worst part of the experience.

The worst part for patona314 of cooby criticizing his writing is how hot she is.

I wouldn't say it was the worst, but it sure made me feel funny.
I was at the Ted in Atlanta (nice ballpark, BTW) and went to the counter for a beer.
I got carded!
Imagine, I was a few months short of my 60th birthday, and I got carded.

Looking back, it actually made me feel pretty good.
Then someone told me that by law, they have to card everyone.
Oh well.

Later

Some? You mean, like, a half-dozen or so Sox fans gang-peed on you?

I guess I'd have to list my worst experience at Fenway also, although it's pretty mild. I never bothered to get a Massachusetts driver's license when I lived up there, since my permanent residence was still New York, but I wanted to buy a beer at Fenway. My NY license wasn't a picture license back then, so I figured I'd take along my Passport as proof of age. No - the fucktards selling beer there wouldn't accept my U.S. Passport as proof of age. I think I had to get some stranger to buy my beer for me.

Maroons...Knuckleheads....

I had similar problems in the early 80's a couple of times in Boston. I wish I had on
video tape when I also once produced a Notary Public id because of the no
photo license and declared, "I'm a freakin' New York State Notary Public" and my
drunk friends all started cracking up and the lady politely told me to get lost.

Game 5 2000 World Series.

Oh, yeah, it only SEEMED like a Road Game...

Game 2 of the aforementioned World Series. I called up a MFY fan cousin of mine that night and gave a concession message on his apartment's answering machine. He and his roomates left it up all winter.

Granted, I have never been to Philadelphia, but I have never had a bad experience at a ballpark - other than when the Mets lose, of course.

I've been to Fenway, Jacobs Field, and Yankee Stadium, and I've never had a bad experience with apposing fans.

Actually, my best stadium experience was at Fenway - The company I used to work for sponsored the Old Timers Day series and my boss threw out the first pitch - I was able to snag a field pass and spent both games in the photographers booth next to the Red Sox dugout...

Most of my best ballpark experiences were at the Vet (a/k/a Shea South).

But, having been to every current Major League ballpark (and nine that are no longer existing or hosting Major League teams), I can honestly say that I have had very few bad experiences in visiting ballparks. For the most part, if you root for your team politely and you don't go dissing the home team, people will treat you right.

Says the woman who hasn't been peed on in thirty some odd ballyards.

Come to think of it, the CPF contingent wasn't treated all that nicely going into
that visit to a game in Washington and unprovoked execpt for laundry.

I bet the vendor had just been given grief about carding (either way) before you arrived, hence he was extra-villgent. Heard some stories about a person being carded and people with the carded person made a stink about "Well why didn't you card me?"

I was not carded at the Ted when I was down there, and I have been mistaken for someone in the late teens.

Fair point, I've been less obnoxious outside of the internet in recent years though.

I'm still refered to as a bi-polar fan though when it comes to the Mets by a Royals fan at work. One day I'm all "METELLENIUM IS HERE, WE ARE GOING ALL THE WAY!" the next it's "Ah who cares, we stink, see you in April"

I really need help don't I...

God, its even with personal crap too. One day I can't wait for this all expenses paid trip, the next because I'm feeling crappy about things I try to back out of going.

Oh - I forgot about the RFK crowd. Yeah, they really sucked!

KC - "Come to think of it, the CPF contingent wasn't treated all that nicely going into that visit to a game in Washington and unprovoked execpt for laundry."

I had a great time at the CPF gathering in Washington, but I must say that we seemed to take a fair amount of verbal abuse simply because we were wearing Mets gear. Then a jackass security guy wouldn't allow me to take my camera into the stadium.

Security Guy, "You can't take this camera into the game."

Rockin' Doc, "Why? I've taken into stadiums all over the country and I've never had a problem before."

SG, "It's too big. This is a professional camera and it is not allowed."

RD, "Professional? You obviously haven't seen my pictures."

SG, "The lens is too big. lt isn't allowed inside. You will have to leave it here."

RD, "I don't think so."

So I walked all the way back to the car to change out my telephoto lens for a 28-70 lens. I should have just gone to another entrance with the original lens, but the guy caught me off guard. I know he was just jerking me around because I had on a Mets jersey and hat. My experience with that moron, was my worst experience at a ballpark.

Still that jerk couldn't spoil a great day at the ballpark. There was good food, good fellowship, and a Mets victory on the field. All in all, still a great day.

Yes - I forgot about the nasty fans because the day turned out so well.

MK remembers, though. He'll still comment about it.

I left an umbrella in a big pile outside of Jacobs Field, and true airhead that I am, forgot all about it after the game.

Don't take your umbrellas to Jacobs Field. Mine is there, you can use it.

Otherwise, that was a nice game (except it was 40 degrees)

Some venues don't. The Tweeter Center in Camden doesn't allow umbrellas. You should always check the venue's website for prohibited items before making your trip.

Jarry Park-Expos 1975

I was by the fence near the dugout. I asked McGraw for his autograph..he said no. I said cmon Tug I came all the way from NJ to see you play. He said "so did I" and walked off

So I'm watching Seaver warm up on the third baseline which was awesome..I asked him to sign and said he would when done. He walked off..

Then..my program I was sitting on was stolen
