In the bottom of the third, it's now 3-0 Atlanta.

Atlanta is still up 3-0 in the 5th.

Milwaukee leads St. Louis 3-0 in the first.

Not sure what to root for. Do I root for chaos (and the possiblity of me making it to Shea for the first round) or do I root for the Cards to make it in.

The Astros strand two in scoring position. Still 3-0 Braves in the bottom of the 6th.

Astros got one back in the top of the 7th.

Had 1st and 2nd with no outs but couldn't get the tying runs in.

It's the top of the 9th in Atlanta. Houston's season is on the line.

Bob Wickman on the mound. Somewhere some mornic Brave wanker is probably saying this is vindication for last year's DS if they can get the win

If things hold the Cards will be doing the ACTUAL definition of backing in as they are down 5-0 now in the 5th

4-9 down the stretch and winning the division because the Stros lost the final game of the year, now THAT deserves the backing in riddicule

And it's a final - Houston loses 3-1.

Condolences to Swtich Hitter - it was a well played season.

Congrats to my 13-year-old, who has been a St. Louis fan since he was 5 years old.

Oops - wrong thread.

And its over. The St Louis Cardinals, for the third straight year and 4th time in 6 years, are your NL Central champs.

Posted

So its Mets, Cards, Padres, Dodgers, Yankees, Twins, Tigers, and A's. With just accounting purposes left to decided the Divison winner in the AL Central, NL West and respective WC winners

Posted

The Royals just tied up the Tigers in the top of the 8th, and the Twins are now leading in the bottom of the 5th.

Posted

FWIW the Yanks are tied at 5 all in the 9th. If Blue Jays lose and Mets hold on to win, the Mets and Yanks will be in a flat footed tie for best record in the game

Posted

And Detroit ties it up in the 8th
Minny still leading 4-1 in the 6th

Possible opponent Dodgers just getting under way
Possible opponent Padres in about 40 minutes

Posted

Another FWIW, the Mets wrap up the NL as the only team winning 90. Also its funny in a way that in both Wild Card/Divison senarios that the WC winner will have a better record than the 3rd best Divison winner. Which means the A's and Cards right now have no idea where they are going to this week as of this moment

I believe the Yankee loss clinches the best record in the majors for the Mets.

And Houston just lost 3-1, so the Cards are in and don't have to play Monday.

Cards open at the NL West Champions on Tuesday, and the Wild Cards open at the Mets on Wednesday!

Remember that San Diego has the tiebreaker against the Dodgers, so unless San Diego loses and the Dodgers win this afternoon, it'll be Cards-Padres and Dodgers-Mets.

No, its a flat footed tie actually. Even head-to-head for 2006

From the WTF department, Boston and Baltimore are waiting out a rain delay? Dude, its the last day of the season, you can't even tie the Blue Jays for 2nd and you're stuck in 3rd.

JUST END IT!

Detroit / KC going to the bottom of the 9th, still tied. Tigers clinch the division (and face Oakland) with a win.

Minnesota leading CHW 4-1 in the 7th, they face the Yankees as Wild Card unless they win and Tigers lose.

Replace "fans" with "money" and you've got it.

If they don't play, the Red Sox have to issue refunds for a sold-out game.

Exactly, send them home. Most of them probably have gone home at this point in time, 4:30 EST
