Is it a rule?

It seems to me that if you're down in the ninth, and the tying run is behind you, you take a strike no matter what. But both Milledge and Reyes swung at the first pitch (and made out). Should Willie be chewing their asses right now?

Both are aggresive young players so chewing them out might not do any good, except get some frustration outta Willie.

Tucker and Ledee, to their credit, both took a strike before taking a cut.

Valadius spent the summer interning with a nickname firm.

Nicknames work best when people know instantly who is meant. If you have to scratch your head and ask WTF? then it probably isn't a good one.

i think its as much of a rule as things like "don't make the last out at 3rd base" or "throw strikes when you're winning big."

Milledge is 5 for his last 9 at bats...and Reyes had 6 hits in his last 4 games while the rest of the Mets couldn't buy a hit even when these guys had gotten on base...probably figured the only way that they would score would be if they put their butts in scoring position with a double or better...Beltran/Delgado/Wright/Floyd/Green/Valentin had a combined 6 hits in the 3 game series, so it's not like they were picking up the runners, the Mets weren't even making productive outs (moving runners up a base) either...

Yes, but you need to explain that off the bat. You can't come up with something totally off the wall and then expect us to read your mind about whom you mean.

I thought that by this time, Thick Legged Heath Bell was his full name.

That's understandable. Explain the "Thick-legged One" please.

Next time Heath Bell pitches, look at him. It's pretty self-explanatory.

If, as Tom Seaver used to say, that power pitching starts with the legs, then Bell should be the second coming of Walter Johnson.

I thought Heath got rid of his thick legs a few spring trainings ago when he used to roller blade to the training facility every morning,at least Fran Healy claimed he did, that's the kinda stuff I miss knowing now that Healy is no more.

Asstalk is hijacking multiple threads.

Norrin Sage is nowhere to be seen.
