Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Ring seems to be doing nicely in the no-pressure spot. Maybe this will be the game where he finds his major league groove.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Gary and Keith just said the same things about Ring that I said an inning ago.Is it possible that they read the Pool during games? Hmmm.....
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I thought about you SK when Gary and Keith said that....

Id say thats the throwing in of the towel. Not that CarlosD has been hitting lately.Mets have only three hits - Milledge is 2 fer 2. Go figure.Hamel has been magnifico.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Hamel-20 out of 25 1st pitch strikes.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Thanks SK....Hamels is just great tonight, and what a great name he has....Reyes gets a hit but the ball hits Milledge, that about sums up this night.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Milledge reaches again--on a strike out past ball,...ha.But the way he chased that pitch for the third strike--thats all Hamels.Hamels strikes out Ledee for his 9th K of the game. And Milledge is out as the ground single by Reyes hits him in the leg!Now Ive seen everything--I think.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Gary brings back a memory, telling us that the Mets worst shutout loss was in 1999 when the Braves beat them 16 to nothing,Matt franco pitched that night for the Mets, I remember that well.....
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 It's comforting that loss took place in 1999.Even the best teams have their days of suckitude.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Ok I am stumped, Gary talking about position players that pitched in games for the Mets said that the first time it ever happened for the Mets was in 1992, I thought he said it was Bill Beceto, but when I check UMDB I see no one with that name, anyone know the postition player was?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 OK I heard wrong,it was Bill Pecota, thanks to UMDB.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Yep, even the best teams have a bad night. But that one inning.....sheesh. And even if you subtract that 1st inning Phils still win 7-0. But this was just one horrendous inning for the books:Phils first inning______________________________Rollins: singleVictorino: Rollins steals 2nd- Victorino flies out.Utley: single-RBIHoward: error(LoDuca)- Utley to second- Howard singles (1st & 3rd)Dellucci: walk (loaded)Rowand: hit by pitch (run)Coste: balk (run)- hit by pitch (loaded) Nunez: doubles past Beltran (was really a single and error in my book)clears the bases.(3 runs) Nunez out trying for the triple.Hamels: strikes out.________________________________________________Shake it off guys-tomorrows another day.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 That's the great thing about Willie's Mets, they bounce back and take no crap...look for a big win tomorrow night.
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Geez Pedro, rub some Ben Gay on that thing
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Well that game sucked, at least it's still light out.
