seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I've never seen a hitter lose the handle on the bat twice in an at-bat, but Delgado just did that. Once he hit Hamels in the right knee, the second time it flew almost all the way to second base. Good AB so far, ten pitches in. Get a hold of one, Carlos.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 And on the thirteenth pitch, Carlos pops weakly to right. Good AB, but bleh output. Here comes Pedro.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I'm not so sure it was a good at-bat. Each foul was weak; Carlos looked helpless the whole time. What's up with him anyway?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 You know, I originally typed just "bleh" because he looked like crap, but then I erased it and added the good AB part because he at least worked him for 13 pitches, so there's something to be said for that. Of course, we could trade him for Doug Mientkiewicz and improve our offense at first base these days.

Get a hold of one, Carlos. That was one of the most interesting at bats Ive seen this season. In both instances, when he threw the bat, he walked all the way out on the field to retrieve it.He ends up lifting a flyout to right, but that at bat had to take a lil something out of Hamel. A 13 pitch at bat.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 An infield single and steal by Rollins, and a line single by that pesky Chase Utley gives the phils the lead, 1-0.That liner by Chase-- ugh! Degado moves like an old man at first--he should have gotten a glove on that. After an error by LoDuca allows Utley to move up, a fly to right by Howard that Milledge should have reached drops in.Pedro walks Delucci and the bases are full.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 2-0 as Pedro hits Rowan with a pitch. One out, bases still loaded. Shitfuck!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 And Martinez, with 2 strikes on him, plunks Rowand and another run scores.Cripes.Phils announcers are wondering why Pedro is not throwing the fast ball, then he does and its clocked at 86, and they say--oh, thats why. Hes got no fastball tonight.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Who is this guy on the mound and what has he done to Pedro? The third run of the inning scores on a balk, and a HBP reloads the bases!
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Beltran misplays the outfield ball to make it 6-0 Philly. Nunez is out at third for the second out of the inning, which is cold comfort.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I cant believe what I just saw!Pedro with a bases loaded balk--and it looked like he balked twice on the same play!He stopped twice---1st the crowd yelled balk and then he stopped again and the ump yelled it!And then Martinez hits another batter and Nunez hits a single that gets past Beltran in center and goes to the fence--all baserunners score!!!!!6-0 Phils
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Holy frig. What the hell is going on down there?!?!
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 At least Pedro will be fresh for his start Saturday night.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Well, that was one of the worst Met half innings Ive ever seen.Olivers up in the pen as the Mets bat.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Pedro is out of the game - Oliver is in to pitch the second. SNY is opining that Pedro may be injured.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 This looks like it's one of the one-third of the games that you're going to lose.Oh well.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Zvon wrote:Well, that was one of the worst Met half innings Ive ever seen.I know Ive never seen Martinez with a worse half inning.I dont think he's hurt---at least I certainly hope not.He just didnt show tonight.A Milledge double to lead off the third, and if the Mets are gonna make a comeback here, they better start now.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 The word on Pedro - a strained right calf.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Pedro has a strained right calf muscle, he felt it during warm ups......shit.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 More word on Pedro: he pitched like poop (but of course they arent gonna say that).Oliver gives up a homer to Dellucci and its gonna be a looooooong night.7-0 Phils
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Good thing "Hell's Kitchen" is on.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Hamel, who last few outings has been gaining confidence and control at the ML level, is starting to look more like the pitcher the Phils hoped he would be. He is setting up and controlling his devistating change up much better than when he first came up. Hitting corners and inticing batters to chase it out of the zone.Met batters are gonna want to be agressive and if they they arent patient they will be playing right into Hamels hands.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Milledge plays a Victorino shot down the line into a double-ugh.Rollins scores.Utley whips one to the wall in right for a legit double.Victorino scores.Thisistheworst.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Yeah it sucks but you'll have these games every now and then,I just hope Pedro is not hurt bad.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Phils announcers:]"Never thought Id see the Mets play like this......This is fun to watch."
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Happy Birthday to Jay Horowitz,he's 61 today says Gary,Keith called him bucket head.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Poor Oliver looks nackered,13 to zip,Ring coming in.
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Maybe Pedro can start again tomorrow night?
