Uni Watching, Turn Back The Clock Weekend against Rockies

The Mets will be wearing these during the weekend set against the Rockies. Not sure for the whole series or just for the Saturday celebration

Also available for sale are a Reyes, Martinez, Delgado, Lo Duca (grrrr) and Beltran uni

As it looks, the correct styles are all there: Pullover, 25 anniversary patch, name was on a nameplate not stitched into the uni, ect

Unlike the last time the Mets did the 86 throwback in July 15th of 2002:

No sign of a patch and I'm pretty sure the names were stitched rather than nameplated, so it looked more like a 1988 tribute!

Trying to remeber the other throwback days the Mets have done. JD, I know you are more a numbers guy, but is there a repository for dates and the unis they were tributing?

I know they had a 1962 retro right at the start of the craze (1992) against the Reds and caught some flack for the lettering being off or something IIRC

Also I know in 1999 the Marlins did one flashing back to Miami's minor league days in 1969 and the Mets suited up in 1969 Road Greys and the Mets have taken part in a number of Negro League tributes both at home and on the road, usually as the New York Cuban Giants

Anyway, I should be there for the Saturday game, camera will be brought and clicking away!

Isn't that the reason for everything, from patches on unis, to patches on caps, to the locker room celebration caps? More on the field stuff, more products that can be sold.

I see nothing wrong with this particular form of capitalism.

Overcharging for it, THEN we've have a problem!

I was at that Mets-Reds '62 throwback game.

I didn't realize it was a throwback game until I got there. It was very cool, both teams had vintage unis on. The Mets unis were actually an off-white, almost yellow but they looked great. I remember that either Jay Payton or Robin Ventura slid and got a huge tear on the back of his pants.

The old unis are definitly cooler but perhaps not nearly as durable.

And P.S. - several hundred dollars for a baseball jersey IS overcharging.

Yup, but that is the going rate for a normal authentic jersey. Better off getting a replica throwback and having it personalized to the exact specs from back then, either your past favorite or current favorite

I think I've found the same deterrent, and it does work very well.
