    • Happy. We still have our top prospects, we upgraded our pen, and took a chance on improving our 2007 rotation. Look out, October!

    • Relieved. Top prospects, baby! Plus, the best team in the NL is mostly intact. We've got a shot.

    • Indifferent. Didn't get what I wanted, but we didn't do anything too stupid. I'm cautiously optimistic.

    • Crabby. We should have made a serious move, and didn't. I worry we'll go 3 and out.

In the scenario I outlined, I'd be okay with Glavine returning to be the #3 man in the rotation.

I realize that you likely wouldn't want Glavine back even as the fifth starter.

Let the rest of MLB get in a bidding war for Zito. I'd be happy if we could land Jason Schmidt


agreed. Schmidt over Zito for me too and its not even close in my mind.

Here's a fairly comprehensive list of free agents for 2007.

Free agent pitchers hitting the market this offseason are:
Jason Schmidt - Giants
Barry Zito - A's
Mike Mussina - Yankees
Mark Mulder - Cardinals (recovering from torn rotator cuff - should start rehab assignment soon)
Jason Marquis - Cardinals
Tomo Ohka - Brewers
Tony Armas, Jr. - Nationals
Gil Meche - Mariners
Vincente Padilla - Rangers
Mark Redman - Royals
Steve Trachsel - Mets

There are other free agent pitchers, but these are probably the best available this offseason. Not a lot of legitimate #1 or #2 starters available.
