Mr. Wright grounds out for the final out of the inning. 10-3 Mets in the middle of the 6th.

El Duque pitches a 1-2-3 6th. He has settled in nicely (and he's not even responsible for the three unearned runs - I think that Mr. Wright and Mr. Reyes owe their teammates a steak dinner for taking them off the hook for their early inning gaffes).

Anyone here ever go up to Cooperstown Induction weekend?

I did that when Schmidt went in, lot of Phillie Phans

I think we might have seen the blade impale the Braves' heart in that sixth inning...

Ive been there quite afew times but never for an induction.
Ive tried too, but the whole town is booked way in advance.

I dunno if they still let you, but back when you could go out and play ball on Doubleday Field.

El Duque has retired 16 in a row.

10-3, after 7.

i had been thinking that maybe willie would leave the two kids in the rotation and send el duque to the pen since he has experience as a reliever. but that was a crazy theory, and el duque is throwing so well today that if i had to guess i would say pelfrey is the odd man out. will be an interesting decision after the 6 man rotation is over.

Martin - I agree with your evaluation. Pelfrey has some great stuff, but I think he could use some more seasoning.

He needs to work on his curveball - he needs to hold it like an egg...

Maybe work on his cliches... Learn that she's weary, not woolly...

people like to say the duke pitches best under pressure, maybe the pressure of staying in the rotation lit a fire under him today. either way i think this game is great evidence for the "stand pat" position regarding the trade deadline.

Wow! That 'Days in 1st Place Since 1994' graphic was telling.

For those who missed it:
Days in Frist Place under the current division alignment showed
Braves: 1,500+
Phillies: 241
Mets: 224
Marlins: less than 200
Ex/Nats: ditto

Keep this run of leading wire-to-wire going and we'll catch 'em in ... oh about 2014

That can't be right - weren't the Nats in first place during the first part of last season?

Less than 200 days, though.

Sure, but not 200 days worth.

FK and Edgy - gotcha.
lubiutl - huh?

Meanwhile, a MFY fan reaches into fair territory to grab a ball and prevent Woodward from making the final out of the 8th inning. If this was a close game, I'd be having fits.
