Last season the Mets split with the MFY, lost two at home and won two in the Bronx,in 04 the Mets took the season series 4 to 2 thanks in part to Mr.Koo.

The Mets will send Orlando Hernandez (4-7, 5.82 ERA), one of the key pitchers on the Yankees' championship teams of 1998-2000, to the mound Friday. The veteran right-hander has started twice against his former team and lost both games, posting a 5.25 ERA. Both outings came last season while he pitched for the Chicago White Sox.

Mike Mussina (9-3, 3.28), who defeated Hernandez in one of the matchups last season, will oppose his former teammate. The right-hander is 5-2 with a 3.84 ERA in nine career starts versus the Mets.

He allowed four runs - two earned - in seven innings of the Yankees' 5-4 comeback victory against the Mets on May 20, and didn't earn a decision.

Mussina bounced back from a string of four straight subpar outings Sunday, defeating Florida with seven innings of one-run ball in New York's 2-1 win. He had recorded a 6.85 ERA in his previous four starts.

Hernandez is coming off his shortest outing of the season. He lasted 1 2-3 innings and gave up six runs in a 7-4 loss to Toronto on Saturday.

Alex Rodriguez is batting .329 (24-for-73) lifetime with eight homers and 12 RBIs against the Mets. He is 7-for-25 (.280) with three homers and eight RBIs against Hernandez.

Yankees center fielder Johnny Damon is 16-for-38 (.421) against El Duque.

The biggest concern for Mussina may be Delgado. The Mets slugger is hitting only .212 (18-for-85) against the right-hander, but has five home runs and five doubles off him.

Delgado is batting .281 with 30 homers and 91 RBIs in 139 career games against the Yankees, with two of the homers coming in the three earlier meetings this season.

The Yankees lead the Subway Series 30-21 since interleague play began in 1997.
