Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Gives Beltran another day to rest his knee, too.Any updates on that, by the way?
Guest sharpie Guests Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Kind of happy. Going to the theater tonight so won't miss the game.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Twenty-odd miles south and east of Shea, it's practically sunny. They should really build a ballpark twenty-odd miles south and east of Shea.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Wouldn't that be in the Atlantic Ocean?
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Now I don't have any excuse to avoid doing homework!

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 I hate rainouts. But nymets.com makes the good point that Beltran gets another day's rest. And I actually enjoy the second game where only 3 regular starting position players actually start. Those are fun. Will this be Jose's first missed game?

Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow. I can't see them playing a game in the middle of 36 straight hours of rain.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 both teams are off the last monday in august, the mets will be at the end of a homestand and the giants will be in atlanta (as close as they'll come to Shea again on the day before or after an offday that they share with the mets)
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 From Newsday:]Notes & quotes: The Mets will start Orlando Hernandez in the opener Saturday. Tom Glavine, slotted for the second game, suggested that he still could take his scheduled turn Wednesday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. "I would rather come back on short rest than have to do something to cover for that day," Glavine said. "The only concern for me is you have to be a little leery of my pitch count [saturday] and then a little bit leery of it in the next start." Since it's possible that only one game will be played, might it not make more sense to pitch Glavine in Game 1?

Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 They'll play 2. I guarantee it.Glavine prolly prefers game two because it'll give him a reasonable amount of certainty as to when it begins, since wet field/lingering rain could delay the start of Game 1. It'll be like a nite game.

Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 There's 100% chance of rain from 2-4, then it drops to 90 @ 4, 80 @ 5, 60 @ 6 & then 30% from 7-10. If they get two in today, it's going to be a late, late night. I don't see them being able to start a game until 6 or 7. I mean, they're going to have some serious work to do on the field before they can play--and they won't be able to start work until the rain stops.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Seriously, Elizabethtown was wretched entertainment, leaving me very angry at multiple levels.
