Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Valentin's versatility continues to come in handy.Which is not to say that he would have deserved to keep a spot on the roster had his hitting not turned around, but having a guy who can play several OF & IF positions while switch-hitting w/enough power potential to at least put a scare into the opposing manager is rarer than some fans apparently think judging by their almost immediate calls for his release by early April.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Reyes walks...it sounds on the radio like the place is packed with Mets fans!
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 In their own home the Marlins fans just tried to get a lets go marlins chant going... they were drowned out by met fans booing them!!we own this stadium and hopefully we will own this team too.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Pedro made a big leaguer out of Jacobs last year.He just made him look like a Little Leaguer.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Strange looking catch by Nady to end the inning.
Guest cooby Guests Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Two people describe a catch as strange and dont describe the catch? Come on, how about a little more detail of this strange catch
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 He stood with his left hip facing the infield --- even though he seemingly had time to square himself --- and reached down and backhanded it at shin level.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I'll let Edgy describe the strange catch, Pedro is in a groove tonight. this Johnson kid can pitch too.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Pedro just destroyed those first two batters last inning.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 Pedro has given up a homer in all but 2 of his starts this year, 9 HR total now given up this year. Ouch.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 OOTS Update:Braves beat Cubs in the 9th on a throwing error. Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Derek Jeter's got his 2, 000th career hit, and he got it like the winner he is... in a losing effort to the Royals.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 Don't jinx it, dammit! The MFYs just took the lead. Meanwhile both Pedro and Johnson have retired 9 in a row.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 12 in a row for Pedro. 9 Ks now.Johnson's up to 92 pitches, maybe he's getting tired. Big bats coming up, time to break this tie.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 They may not lead the league in wins, but I'm pretty sure the Marlins lead the league in crooked-hat mugshots:Dontrelle: Hanley Ramirez: Jacobs: Cabrera: Randy Messenger:
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 Good job by Pedro minimizing damage after the 3 singles to start the 7th but we need HITS and RUNS. Rally!
