Guest abogdan Guests Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Nice article today in the Times today about Pedro Martinez at home. I had read about his affinity for gardening in the past, but this is the most revealing article about Pedro's life away from the field that I've seen.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Nice article.6 bedrooms, 8 acres in Greenwich. I knew I shoulda been a pitcher.

My yard looks better than his....gardener my ass.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Listened to a MFY Fan named Curtis Sliwa trash Pedro for this this morning on WABC radio, 77AM here in New York City.Course he hates Pedro since the Red Sox days, and hates the Mets since childhood, and I'm not sure a guy that dresses like this should be making comments about people's toughness:
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Is he a Guardian Angel? They were pretty tough back in the day.OE: Yes, he actually founded the Guardian Angels. I wouldn't mess with him. Even if you could take him on he's got backup.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 ]he only paid $4 mil for itMaybe he paid cash.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 He's also since admitted that more than a few of the early stories of Guardian Angel exploits were exaggerrated or just plain made up.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I ran into him coming out of my accountant's office last week. Not a big guy at all.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Pedro or Sliwa?Personally whenever I would run into a pack of those Guardian Angels they made me feel less safe. Always seemed like they were made up of a bunch of hoods who were in the organization in order to get to beat people up.

Guest abogdan Guests Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 The late, great Ray Traylor once wrestled as The Guardian Angel between stints as the Big Boss Man.

Around the same time they had a masked wrestler in a yellow and blue suit with some VERY familiar markings, named "Aranchid-Man"
