Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Team America needs a win to advance and they're on their way to building a lead even Rahjah can't blow. US leads 4-0 in the top of the first inning. I'm half listening to the radio and either I or the announcers are thouroughly confused. Here's what they said:Damon led off and made an out.Jeter, batting second with 1 out, hit an AMAZING single that epitomized just how great he REALLY is. Griffey singled. Jeter scored and Griffey reached second on an error by the CF. A-Rod hit a triple to right center, scoring Griffey. Derek Jeter hit an opposite field home run, reminiscent of one of his many post-season opposite field home runs.Has Jeter cloned himself? And if he has, shouldn't Steinbrenner be doubly pissed that BOTH Jeters are playing for Team America, risking themselves and the Yankee season?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Derek Jeter can do anything, including cloning himself. How could you not know that?Later
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Can he roundhouse kick Chuck Norris?
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Well, the Derek Jeters are bitch-slapping South Africa, 14-0. Griffe--er, I mean, Derek Jeter, CF, has back-to-back 3-run home runs. Derek Jeter, 3B, is 3-3, and Derek Jeter, 1B, has a 2-run HR.One more unanswered run, and this game will be called after 5 on mercy rules.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Derek Jeter, SP, by the way, has yet to allow a hit and has K'ed at least 1.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 16-0, the 5 inning part of the mercy rule isn't very merciful and this game isn't very enjoyable.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 While watching this dull game, learn a bit about the South African team from this interesting article.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Derek Jeter, SP, is now out of the game. He went 3 innings, K'ing 4 and allowing 1 H. The crowd loves him. Derek Jeter, RP, is replacing him.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Baseball Commissioner Derek Jeter being interviewed right now and getting his butt kissed.
Guest KC Guests Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Where are people watching these games? They're not on tv (which is kinda dumb).

Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Derek Jeter, SS, hits a double. Jeter, CF, follows with a single and the score is now 17-0. Jeter, 3B, strikes out. 2 outs in the bottom of the fourth.

Guest KC Guests Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Thanks, the "sports on tv" listing in the NY Times doesn't list it for some reason.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 i read it in a Post article yesterday by chance, i didnt check a tv schedule. these anouncers are the worst i've ever heard btw.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Commissioner Jeter says they will not schedule in November (unfortunately) or during the season (thankfully). Says March is really the only time the WBC can be played.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 You know that this might be the last time we ever see Clemens pitch, it couild be his last game EVER....

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I think Clemens should be a good sport and let them score 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Mike Timlin gets to be the mensch as he allows a hit on his first pitch. Go South Africa score some runs.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Derek Jeter is slapping his own ass and patting himself on the back.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 True mercy would have been bringing in Al Leaiter to give those guys a chance.Later
