Not that it would be any fairer to send Mexico (who beat Canada) or Team America (who beat Mexico) home, I suppose . . .

ah, the "joys" of 4 team pools everyone loses out when you have an 0-3 team...
the better way is a double-elimination round robin as follows:

Game 1: Team A vs Team B
Game 2: Team C vs Team D
Game 3: Loser of game 1 vs Loser of game 2 (loser is 0-2 and eliminated)
Game 4: Winner of game 1 vs. Winner of game 2 (winner is 2-0)
Game 5: Winner of Game 3 vs Loser of Game 4 (loser is 1-2: eliminated)
Game 6: Winner of Game 4 (2-0) vs. Winner of Game 5 (2-1)
Game 7 (necessary only if the 2-0 team loses)

compared to the current method:
Advantages: nobody goes home without 2 losses, no need for any tiebreakers
Disadvantages: a team could potentially play 5 games (compared to 3 now, this isn't a disadvantage in my mind but it is to the organizers), a team could go home after 2 games (but they'd be 0-2 so who cares?)

on edit: this would take 4-5 days since games 1&2 and 3&4 could be played on the same day

To be honest I have enjoyed this thing more than I tought I would, I think in 10 to 20 years this could be a huge event with some tweaking, bold prediction, Ireland to win WBC in 2018.

I have said it before but I will say it again, Rick Sutcliffe is the most annoying colour guy in baseball, in his world everyone is a great guy,he was just now talking aobut what a great guy Jeter is, and Griffey....I really hate hearing him.
