MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I hope that Prentice Redman makes the Cards, and that he bumps Met-killer So Taguchi out of the righthanded hitting reserve outfielder spot.Later
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Taguchi is hardly a reserve anymore, he played in 143 games for the Cards last season, no surprise that a lot of former Mets end up with Duke.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Jason Phillips is a non-roster invitee? that stinks because i'd have happily signed him instead of julio franco to backup 1b AND serve as the 3rd catcher

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Richard Hidalgo signed a minor league deal with the Orioles on Sunday.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/26/AR2006022601172.html
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Is that our Luis Lopez going to Baltimore?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 At one time they were all ours Cooby.
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Or will be....It is him, bless his hearthttp://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/player.jsp?player_id=117922According to that chart, he played for them last year, I must have had my Luis radar turned off
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I heard this morning that Melvin Mora will not play in the World Tourney because he will be staying with the O's to "resolve position and contract" problems.Hmmm. I wonder if he can plan second base.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Apparently his "position problems" are with Venezuela not with the Orioles. The national team wants him to play CF in the WBC and he's reluctant to switch there only to switch back once it's over. And I guess that he's in a contract year only exacebates his unease.

It would only add to his value if he could show some of that ability.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Maybe, but I think his problem is that only Venezuela wants to use him as a CFer, not the O's.
