Diamond Dad Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I don't mind 8 pitchers, so long as there is a minimum innings requirement. You need to be "realistic" so that each team has to have 4-5 actual ML starters, and not a team filled with middle men and closers. You can win ERA, WHIP, and saves with just middle men and closers, but if there is a sufficient innings requirement, that is not a problemWith an 8-man staff, figure a 125 innings per man requirement -- so 1000 innings pitched
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 in a 4x4 league the "middle man strategy" mioght work, but in a 5x5 league, especialyl one with 20 teams, you'll finish last in Wins AND strikeouts giving you a "1" in 2 of the 10 categories....even if you win WHIP, ERA, and SAVES you'd need insane hitting to win the league, and you're spending two high draft picks on closers to be the winner in saves.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 you also need to have a MAXIMUM innings pitched, too. Unlimited IP minimizes pitching strategies. 162 x 9 = approx 1450 IP
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 I'm declaring the 3rd option the winner because it has more votes than the other two combined, we cant wait forever for more voters, a new poll is coming...
