Guest HappyRecap Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 According to cnnsi:http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/transactions/today.htmlWho knows what he has left but it follows Omar's pattern with Los Mets.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 So, Anna Benson suggests that Mets are wusses about having players with distracting wives, huh?HUH?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 She makes my team.Edgy, I had posted this to the 25 man roster thread. But without that picture.Later
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Damn.....they look bigger than Anna's....
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Yes, I read it. Let's not scramble for credit for dropping news.

I was lauding the addition of the picture. Was the 25 man thread not the appropriate place for my post? I always post such stuff there to give you a heads up in case you missed them. You seem to have the most up to date roster found anywhere on the web.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 This was pretty notorious. The Dodgers and mlb.com had the shot up. It was all over the internet in a few hours, and was duly replaced by this one:
Guest mlbaseballtalk Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Lima Time got the chicks!BEE-LIVE IT!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I met Lima when he was playing for the Newark Bears and was in AC to play the Surf afew years ago.He came into my office for financial assistance.Seemed like a very nice guy. He was tall, dressed snappy, and had what I believe was an all star game ring on. It was the ring that got my attention. And then I saw his signature and knew who he was.He was very gracious and classy. He said then that he'd be back in MLB before long, and he did get back, and did well, with KC and LA. He looked all done last year tho.I wish him the best but I dont see him makin the club. That would be a pleasant surprize tho, if he did and he was effective.
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Ha! They look like water balloons!

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 He's a zero-risk reclamation project, so why not? My guess is there's still some upside there, but it may take more than spring training to get it back. If he's willing to spend time in Norfolk and possibly shift to the bullpen, I could see him contributing after the All-Star break.
Guest martin Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 i think anna benson is prettier. mrs. lima just got lucky with the angle on her big ole boobie in that one photo. she is alright, but anna benson has really outstanding teeth and a superior overall looks package. here is lima without the shades:
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 VSSure, martin, if you like the Fergie look
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 i still like her better...yeah Lima could be worth having at AAA especially with our suddenly not-so-deep rotation. If everyone is performing up to their potential he's still behind Soler and maybe Bannister but ahead of Maine and Iriki i'd think, and if those guys aren't doing well he could very well be the 6th starter.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Cooby I think fair play is needed here, I mean that is a terrible picture of the dearly departed....
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 yeah but your picture is obviously a publicity photo as of where the picture of Mrs. Lima is a "natural" shot. I invite you to find the "natural" shots of Anna from the Post when benson was traded, she's not looking so good unless he's all done up as of where Mrs. Lima looks good anyway.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 IT'S LIMA TIME!!!!Or maybe not. Actually, hopefully not. He'd probably be real popular in NYC if he can still pitch. I remember having some field level LF seats a few years back when he was still with Houston and he was making a whole buncha young friends by enthusiastically signing 'graphs.Problem is, aside from a brief span a few years ago he hasn't proven that he can with any kind of effectiveness. As mentioned above, it's a no-risk move. But if we need him it prolly means things aren't going well.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Sorry to launch a hooozehotter contest.
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I would submit that a blond, wholesome, bovine like female takes the prize over any overly madeup bovine like female any day
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I will admit, that when made up, Anna is quite fetching. But come on, when she's not she's not.And Kris looks like a cadaver
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Edy after you posted that pic this was always going to turn into a 'hoozehotter' contest....it's the way we are I 'spose..Cooby that was cruel on Kris, just cos he looks like Glavine is not his fault...as for Anna I like her...surprise..
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Well I think he just needs to eat some meat
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Not to distract from the who-would-you-rather discussion (Lima's wife, BTW, although it was a toughee--Anna's hotter and she probably gets freaky, but I bet she talks about herself (possibly in the third person) the whole time), but Lima's got a weird track record. He was pretty valuable in 98 (ERA+ of 110) and 99 (121), replacment level or worse between 2000 & 2002 (74, 81, 54), then a little above average in 2003 & 2004 before sucking again last year (62).He's got anywhere from good to marvelous control, but the man gives up a lot of taters and doesn't strike out many, leaving him little room for error. He's also been pretty durable throughout his career, averaging 183.3 innings a year. PECOTA doesn't really know what to expect of him (huge variation between his 10th & 90th percentiles), but his weighted mean is essentially replacement level-- 5.33 ERA, 1.49 WHIP. I suspect Shea will really help him in the HR department, though. I think he's good insurance and like the signing.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Lima had a 6.99 ERA last year with Kansas City, and he got 32 starts!I can't help but think that instead of continuing to trot Lima out there, the Royals could have given three or four starts each to some of their AAA or even AA pitchers.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Also, I notice that the name of this photo is "lima_before"Clearly, though, that's an after shot of Mrs. Lima. Those things can't be real. I'd prefer real and not bodacious to artificially bodacious any time.
