I have only a few minutes today (Im far busier than Ralph, I think, at least for the next month or so) but I just had to get this out before I pop:

You folks are fabulous. Faith like yours in your beliefs hasnt been witnessed since the earliest martyrs were praising Gods beneficence for allowing them to be roasted alive in His honor. Manny to the Mets? HAHAHAHAHA. What makes him so good now that hes worth (even thinking about) trading some decent young players to get him (and his contract) when YOU WOULDNT TAKE HIM (and it) GRATIS WHEN HE WAS TWO SEASONS YOUNGER? Is it the age alone you find so appealing? Or the fact hes already given the Sox two seasons (maybe its just one, I forget and am too lazy to research) of HOF play to justify the high salary? Or maybe its the marked improvement in his attitude youve seen, his renewed determination to hustle, or his sudden soothing Buddha-like clubhouse presence that makes him desirable?

And some of you are wondering why Cameron didnt fetch more than a so-so corner outfielder? Maybe youre mistaking his present value as a possibly blinded (certainly possibly vision-impaired) defensive wizard for his past valuesay, from the dim, distant ages of June of 2005, when it was bruited about that he could go for an impact playera closer, for example, or two young players far better than the X-man, from some contender drooling over a healthy GG centerfielder who happened to be hitting about .335 and power at the moment. But NOOOOOO, why would you trade Cameron at that point, when you were a contending team yourselves (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) (Am I inventing a now-unthinkable Robby Cano for a Cameron-and-Matsui package that got shot down here in June? Or was that on WFAN?) Greedy, greedy, greedy, shortsighted, greedy, foolish and a little bit greedy are my top seven choices for Why the Mets are getting less return than they expected for Cameron.

I could give you a few minutes on Sammy Sosa talk, do some shtick on Delgado NOW!! (which largely duplicates my Manny comments above--let me get this right: it was the cheap FIRST year of his multi-year deal that gave you problems?!), make a few comments on Mienkiewiczs brilliant (and largely ignored, I noticed) assessment of his soon-to-be-former clubs astuteness, and another quip or two, but dont have the few minutes just now. Sorry, chaps. Carry on.

Oh, and as you may have noticed, I lost my Sox connection a few weeks ago (I did try suggesting that Theo may find a good rebuilding job in Queenshonest!but got only the filthiest of looks for my trouble) so Im looking around for a team to follow, but dont worry, Im holding out for a well-run organization. Ill merely do the occasional driveby here, just to keep you folks connected with news from planet Earth.

Back in a month or so, by popular demand.

Sal - you really shouldn't wait until your medication runs out before you refill your prescription...

I'm in the 'they prolly got what they could for Cammie and didn't want to sit
on their hands camp' - they clearly wanted to get rid of him, and got someone
I think they've been eyeballin' for awhile.

I'm in the anti-Manny camp, but if they get him on the cheap (which I doubt
they will) I ain't gonna whine about it.

And doc, you can always just put down the cross, let bygones be bygones,
and come back and be Mets fan - which you know you are at heart anyways.
Since you're so busy, that might be easier than this act you have to keep up.

so....

how long before Sal becomes a Yankees fan?

Personally I'm on the fence with Manny (yes, it's a wide fence), so I'm content to defer to the GM on this one. I defer to the GM quite a bit actually, probably because I assume that GMs know a bit more about building a ballteam then I, an insurance professional, do.

Giving up Milledge would bug me but I also bought the hype on David West, Gregg Jefferies and Alex Escobar.

Manny has only three years left on his $$$$$ deal so even if he becomes a bust - it really is only three years. Heck Matsui's third year is here already.

The Cameroon trade doesn't really irk me. I liked the guy but he was hurt quite a bit during his tenure here and once we got Beltran there wasn't much of point to having both these guys.

All this being said - I really don't understand why so many seem to have a problem with Sal. Dialogue my brothers, dialogue.

It's not what he says as much as how he says it.

Likening us all to martyrs and yelling at us that we're all following the party line like sheep isn't a way to have one's views taken seriously.

How about just ignoring those posts that you find objectionable and moving on?

The man makes some compelling arguments if you get past bloody Jesus.

Besides methinks he just likes stirring the pot rather than really believing half the things he says.

I just have a thing about tailed amphibians - especially of the Caudata order.
I've never gotten along with them.

Hey, I made one joke towards him and one response to you (now two). I don't think I have too much to move on from.
