Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 I just bought a 2-disc DVD of which the first disc is a basic highlight film of the '86 WS and the second disc is billed as "most of the original game footage from Game Six." I ended up buying it directly from the guy's website instead of on eBay because he didn't accept PayPal. I can PM (or post, I don't want to be an advertiser for the guy though I will if enough people are interested) the website to anyone else who wants to buy it.I'm assuming most of you won't be interested because you probably all have video tape of every game from the entire 1986 season. I'm the loser who doesn't have Game Six on tape.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Speaking of which, when does that film Game Six come out on DVD?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Just in time for the winter...a Mets snowsuit..the seller says...
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 It looks like Kenny disintegrated.

One is the 2004 Red Sox featuring not just all 4 WS games and WS Highlight film but all 7 ALCS games in their ENTIRETY! And the second is shinning the spotlight on the Yankee dynastay from 96-2001. All 4 WS winning highlight films (2001 was the first to be released on DVD format) and 5 complete WS games selected from those WS, Game 5 is the 2000 representitive (note, all of the games are in decent rotation on YES's Yankee Classics, but the audio/video on the DVD is FOX all the way, YES uses Sterling/Kay on their broadcasts)Sadly I had a real piece of junk VCR back in 1986, I'm pretty sure it was the first one we ever bought and it pretty much crapped out on me that October. I don't recall if I tried taping the 88 NLCS, but by 1999 my VCR was up to the task of recording all Met postseason gamesCourse by next year I may have a DVD recorder that can record off TV, and of course now I can pre-record on TVio instead of being nervous that the tape will go outAh the technology age...Steve

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Several lots are coming up of shots of Shea Stadium under construction. Also fascinating are these two payroll checks from the MLBPA.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 So are they pension checks,Backman's looks like it's from 92, but he was still a player then...
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 They're from 1982. Look at the stamps on the back.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 yes 82, so what type of payment are they?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Both lots describe them as checks "to pay for expenses."
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Haven't updated in a while.I don't have a game-used taste, thank God, but I do have Kingman taste. This claims to be a game-used Kong bat from 1976 and perhaps used in an All-Star game by the big enigma. I didn't know bats had dimpled ends yet. A signed 1962 photo. An "original" Mr. Met bobble-head bank. What's with the orange bill on the cap. Was Mr. Met mascotting for the Tides? He also seems to have two pairs of eyebrows. Finally, for the 6' 6" 228 lb. addiction-recovering athlete in your life, here's a suit tailor-made for Straw. Not bid on yet. Reserve is set at $100.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I'm guessing there are few people out there who would fit that thing. 6' 6" and skinny as a rail despite how jacked he was? Not that the people who buy it would probably wear it or anything.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 ]Finally, for the 6' 6" 228 lb. addiction-recovering athlete in your life, here's a suit tailor-made for Straw. that would have to fit me at 6'5" 220 lb. too bad its so ugly.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I see Marvelous Marv, Jim Hickman, and Jay Hook on the autographed photo.

I'm hoping so, otherwise I need to take some remedial reading comprehension classes.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I don't think I edited it.Nymr, I encourage a bid. I think it's kinda snappy and a solid conversation piece.Of course, there's no evidence it ever passed through Straw's hands. Then again, there's some pretty universal condemnation of the clothes on my ass.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Mets-Colonels scorecard from 1885.Big-guy pants. I'm guessing that's a 40-inch waist, a 44-inch inseam and a 35-inch thigh on this, the largest of Mets, in a relatively slimmed-down year.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Wow, that 1885 scorecard is way cool.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Retrosheet confirms that the score that day was 10-4.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 No bids on the Strawberry suit with an hour left. A hunnert bucks and she's likely yours.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 maybe they'll repost it for 50 it would have to go down to $25 or so before i buy it just to wear it once and say it belonged to DS.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 This isn't eBay, but auctions for The Tug McGraw Foundation are ending this afternoon. There are some interesting Mets-related items in the lot.
Diamond Dad Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Sure you don't want a pair of game worn Mo Vaughn pants, Scarlet??? Holidays are coming.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Not necessarily Mets-related, but Sotheby's just listed several hundred items from baseball history on eBay that will blow your mind. Hope you all have some extra money lying around to add to your collection. How about a scorecard from Cy Young's 1904 perfect game? A Babe Ruth-Lou Gehrig signed baseball? A Ty Cobb game-used bat? Joe Jackson's "Black Betsy" bat? How about the original Heisman trophy? The Braves hat Hank Aaron wore when he hit #715? Leo Durocher's 1947 NL Championship ring? This is some pretty wild stuff.
