soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Did not know until just now when I checked the standings on mlb.com that the Mets won last night. After going to bed with them down 4-1, I...I...I..just assumed they'd lost. The game ended too late for the score to be in the papers so when I went to mlb.com to check the SD/SF score I noticed that the Mets were TWO games over .500.I said to myself 'Self, that's a mistake. The Mets lost last night' Then I checked the box and saw that Jacobs once again played the hero.So that's good.

Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Our win had to be absolutely devastating to Philly. They had us beat, practically, knocking the crap out of Seo and getting to practically surrender using Graves and Takatsu -- only to see it come apart on clutch hits by, of all people, Marlon Anderson and Miguel F. Cairo, a walk by Reyes, and two errors in one play by Utley, then suffer the insult-to-injury of WWSB's walk-the-winning-run-on-base strategy. To them, this had to be a Friday-night-at-Pittsburgh style, swift-kick-in-the-crotch kinda loss.Ironic, but the same thing that I'd argue took the Mets down this year (Miguel Cairo) may wind up taking Florida and Philly with him.
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Miguel Cairo - where playoff hopes go to die...
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Miguel hit heck out of the ball on Sunday. Deep warning track drives. He's my barometer. If he hits a hard out, I think, "OK, that means Beltran/Floyd/Wright/Piazza can hit this guy."
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 How's this for little faith, I saw that they were in a rain delay and figured they weren't playing last night. I completely missed this entire game.

Guest cooby Guests Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Heh, I was talking to my daughter, who lives in Philadelphia now, on the telephone last night around 10 pm. She said they had been thinking about going to the game but decided not to because it was rainy and I told her they were just getting started. She was pretty glad they hadn't gone, though she could have sat there and graded spelling tests.
