seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 In the Red Sox game tonight, Gabe Kapler blew out his Achilles tendon rounding the bases on a Tony Graffanino home run, and had to be replaced in mid-trot by a pinch runner. The PR was Alejandro Machado, who scored his first major league run. Kapler will miss the rest of the year due to the injury.Weird.Rule 5.10 (1) -- If an accident to a runner is such as to prevent him from proceeding to a base to which he is entitled, as on a home run hit out of the playing field, or an award of one or more bases, a substitute runner shall be permitted to complete the play.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 JD - "I heard Clemens mother died of a fastball to the side of the head. Is that true?"Man, that's cold. Even an ass like Clemens deserves empathy over the death of his mother.
Guest SI Metman Guests Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Clemens pitched with a lot of heart. Houston blew it open late. I don't know why, but I don't hate Roger as much as I used too. I actually want to see him succeed in October.
