Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 I'm really surprised that they didn't bunt there.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Looper had the runner caught, but they didn't have anybody covering second fast enough.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 I think what Beltran was "afraid" of was having the ball go by him if he dove for that ball but missed. That's the wise play there. Neither he nor Diaz - nor any Diaz replacement you might want to name - were likely to catch that one.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Ground out to first. Two out runner on third. I don't need this kind of stress before bed.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 ]and we never needed it more than now. Well, to be a touch pedantic, I think we could've used five in a row in October '88.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 winning any of the last 5 (the mets lost them all) would have made the mets a wild card winner in '98 as well.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Foget the WC, the Mets are four games out in the East, should be a great finish to the season....
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 - Looper on why Padilla was warming up:Nothing to do with him, just throwing on his own since he hadn't pitched since being stretched out on that day Benson bombed (Gary & Howie speculated that it was something to do w/Looper).- Trax: Was "getting close" [to his limit] during the last few batters.
