Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 The Mets pitching tonight was straight out of the movies. The Good The Bad The Ugly
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Not for nothing, but Koo was put in a situation where the result he wound up with was the minimum expected. How about props he deserves for the big whiff of Johnson.

Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 OO - You do realize that MK is 9 years old, right?

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 It's not like Koo is some 25-year-old kid that has potential. He's 37 years old!!!!!!!

Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 I know Johnny. And he got an eyeful of bad language tonight. Which is fine - better that he learn it here than on the streets.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 is Johnny the guy who masturbates whenever he catches a foul ball?
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 If Omar doesn't at least get rid of Graves after tonight's game, I'm going to start questioning the seemingly miraculous skills of Doctor Joseph and his son Doctor Jeffrey Dellarusso.

They had it together for a bit of a stretch there, pre AS break, but ever since Graves got here the whole shebang has SUCKED. Cept Hernandez, and he's like 102 yrs old.Omar really should have addressed this b4 the trade deadline, but then, as he was sayin, no one was becoming available. There must be afew journeymen somewhere.I see better pitchers than Graves and Koo on the AC SURF, the local minor league team here.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 And my blood pressure is aaaalmost normal enough to give out PoTG points
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 As I asked earlier, can we give out negative Schaefer's points? That's the only way to properly reward everybody for this game.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 No - negative points are not allowed. Yancy will yell at you if you award them
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Valadius wrote:As I asked earlier, can we give out negative Schaefer's points? That's the only way to properly reward everybody for this game.Koo, Graves and Looper should lose something for that travesty.I just noticed that Martinez only threw 74 pitches. Now, I know Willie wants to keep him as fresh as possible, but he should have gotten at least one if not two more innings from Pedro. (who knows,he may have gotten thru both innings with 3 pitches each)I think Pedro might even agree with this, since it cost him a W.(but who thought they could give 8 runs back to the Nats tonight, right?)cripes.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 IMO, the move to pull Petey was fine. The problem was that Graves is on our roser. I pretty much guarantee that Bell wouldn't have sucked that badly.I realize that that's a pretty easy guarantee to make after the fact, but I suspect most of you will agree with me, so I wont' worry about it too much. And I don't think Koo or Heilman deserved much blame--Koo especially. He's been very good for us when not injured.Anyway, thank God we got the win. Let's have a REAL laffer tomorrow.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Hopefully we will have one tomorrow- I'll be there, and don't want to get agitated. Any more craziness might be too much for me.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 It'll be very interesting. Graves' real sins were the two walks. They cut loose DeJean because he was unable to throw a strike. I suspect they're seeing something in his bullpen work that suggests he's got something he's not showing. So, try and slip him into the minors to work with him there, and don't worry too much if he's claimed. It's certainly what I (and a lot of others) said five or six weeks ago, but now, he'll only have to be a Tide for ten days. Looper is more interesting, and I suspect we'll see a Heilman-for-Closer movement in the stands before the homestand is up.Meanwhile, the Mets gain on three of the four teams ahead of them in the division standings, and three of the four teams ahead of them in the comodn standings.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 I read Ring wont be makin the roster. That dont make no sense.Good game tonight fellow faniuns.I could not have gotten thru it alone.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Cool part about tonight: I avoided all this drama. I heard from a friend that the Mets were up 8-0 with Pedro on cruise control. Later on, someone confirmed that the Mets had won and were now within 2 of the wild card.Bad part: I didn't know about any of this drama until I just went through this thread. This had all the markings of a horror story...glad to see it went well.Proposal: Anyone who uses the word "laugher", "laffer" or any variation thereof in an IGT gets an immediate lifetime ban. No questions asked.(We have a Giamatti on this board, he should have some experience with lifetime bans)

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 ....where do those Shaver points go tonight?im tryin to stay up and post em.
