seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Heilman definitely earned himself a Schaefer point or two right there.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I'd give him a whole keg for that one.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 There was 2 baserunning errors on that play, which led to a 3rd. After Wright scored (the throw hit him on the back and wasn't handled) he stood up and motioned toward second, as if to say to Anderson "take third!" It appeared that Castro saw that as an invitation to take off for second, which he did but only tentatively, since Anderson (not in the picture) apparently had his head up his ass and hadn't taken 3rd.That left Castro as a dead duck and Anderson at 2nd instead of 3rd. That was the difference between getting doubled off second on Cairo's hit as opposed to scoring (possibly) on it.Too many mistakes in this game, and the xtra PT given to Anderson, which he's earned with the bat, is flying off the other side with errors & baserunning fuckups.Glavine just doesn't have enough to get the out when he needs it anymore. Not all his fault tonight but in general, a real cause for concern. He's lost his once great skill for total precision and just doesn't have much else to go to physically.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Nationals just refered to that inning and attributed it to good defense and not bad baserunning.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 After Beltran's single, it's my duty to report that Livan Hernandez has had a gob-stoppingly sexy 125 pitches, many under bases-loaded-type condidtions.OE:And just like that, Joey Eischen comes in, and the sex shop is closed for the night.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Nat announcers just said that he threw 150 earlier this season. Insane.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Just tuned in.Why does Livan get a standing O after giving up 4 runs in less than 8 innings?Simple naivete of DC fans or something else?
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 They cheer every routine play as if it was the play of the decade in that stadium. After a while the players are going to get sick of being so highly praised for every mediocre occurrence.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 That's what I thunk.Beltran scores on Brando's sac fly.5-3 Mets.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 We's doing all we can to make this one difficult.Think Bert will slash Heilman's tires after that 8th inning?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Heilman only has 25 pitches to have wrapped up seven batters. Go nuts. Let him finish. Have him get a real save.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Reyes with the error and then almost blows the double play. . .but Offerman comes off the bag to catch it and make a nice tag.I officially take back my "gulp" when Offerman came in.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 How come only relief pitchers cop looks like this?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Braden, man, he's a power pitcher who gets saves without strikeouts.I hope Heilman likes Schaefer, because I'm sending him a few 40s.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Une, deux, trois pour Monsieur Looper.Finis!Mets Win.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 *pats looper on the head*Good looper! Good Boy!*gives heilman a beer*

soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Just wait til their ice cream melts, they'll figure it out.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 They're not the most knowledgeable baseball fans.Remember Monday, when Wright was caught in a rundown, but kept it going long enough so that the runner on second could advance to third? They cheered that play as if it was a gold glove play.
Guest cooby Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Sweet and innocent.A whole town full of Edgys.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 And we shall beat Livanand it shall be a good winIf you DC visitors think the treatment of the Nats is sickly sweet and a bit overboard, you should see/hear the what the Redskins get. This is really cool: I'm listening to the WFAN recap show while watching BB2N (w/the sound down) and the replay of Gary's call on the Castro 2-RBI single and espn's video of the same play were not only on at the same time but were exactly synched up!OK, so it was only kinda cool ... (must get life)
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Yeah, well, I thank Redskin fans for being so surreal that they helped shake me of the last bit of NFL interest I ever had. I doubt Nationals fans will accomplish the baseball version.Besides we just took two of three from a first-place team and came damn close to sweeping them. They're the ones who pulled the hate crime on Youppi!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Of course. What am I saying?More grass for the mower tomorrow.
Guest cooby Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Geez, Edgy you scared me, I don't have my Pirates KTE finished yet
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Ahh the infamous Pirates KTE...Cooby I can't wait...this one has been in the oven for a while..
Guest cooby Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Actually it's in my word file at work! And I am off until Monday! Egads!
