Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Mets and Pedro down 1-0 in the second to the Nats and Loiza.

Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Wait, you could have seen pedro pitch tonight and you didn't take the ticket? The mythological figure that was Edgy DC has crumbled before my eyes. . . BTW, I have my feed, but everyonce in a while it just goes black for like 2 minutes.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I can't even log in to MLBTV. Both the TV broadcast and GameDay are loading verrrrrry slowly.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 My radio is loading fine. Gnats 1, Gmets 0 after 4.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I'm going to the bar to watch with Cliff and Normie.
Guest cooby Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I'm sorry, I forgot there are various video feeds now...I meant on television.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Cliffy with a single. Come on, Piazza. Make like it's 1998!
Guest KC Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Piazza, damned if you comment ... damned if you don't. Cy Loaiza gettin' it done.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I think we have to face the fact that this team is a .500 club. No better, no worse.
Guest KC Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I was going to post things could get worse with an injury to a key player ortwo but couldn't think of any key players.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 i'm baaaaaaaack.i loved the lineup (reyes down in it) the last 2 days.and god damn i came home in time for the mini-rally that falls short.
Guest cooby Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 When I muted it in the ninth they scored two runs, but it just wasn't enoughA nice quick game, which makes up for yesterday
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 So we know Piazza likes to look at the first pitch to get a feel, looking at strike three is becoming common as well, how long before Willie flips Piazza to the six spot?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 ON the FAN right now "Doc form Maryland" is calling, is that our Doc?, and he's killing Willie btw,and now Marlon Anderson.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Blech - this was frustrating. We got lost on the way to the stadium, so we arrived in the bottom of the first. Lousy noffense until the 9th, when we got too little too late. Ugh!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Loaiza was dealing tonight. Virtually everything he threw either hit a corner or missed in a spot where it wasn't dangerous. It was shades of his big season 2 years ago - although I'm not sure where that stuff went on vacation last year when he basically sucked for two different teams. Those tack-on runs (2 2-out RBI singles) were the killers. Suxx when you get 2 in the 9th off a closer that's been lights-out most of the year and still fall short.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 How the hell do you not score any runs on Esteban Loaiza? The guy couldn't get my grandma out last season, and now he's Cy Young? Urg.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Gotta question WWSB going with Woody last night: He had Dauber, Cairo & Ohfer-man he coulda slotted in at first and as it turned out he PHed for him in the 9th anywhoo. I may have PHed for Woody sooner... in the 7th was it? ... when a HR was what he needed. We aren't scoring any runs without Beltran &/or Piazza giving us something.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Partially because we don't have a real first baseman.Partially because Cameron is leading off and playing a table setter instead of a run producer.Partially because nobody's going to pitch to Floyd unless they have to.But definitiely that first part first. If you hope the Mets are more than the .500 team they've been, it's because you know they can get more from center, second, and first. But I'm not sure where it can come from at first.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 ]I may have PHed for Woody sooner... in the 7th was it? ... when a HR was what he needed.Funny, one post-game call I heard last night wanted Willie immediately fired with no parole because he DID pinch-hit Daubach for Woody. And espn made a big deal about the fact that Woody is hitting .310 (or whatever) against RHPs and Daubach only .056 ... although they never managed to mention sample sizes (18 ABs) or Daubach's pre-call up stats.I was surprised Woody played in the first place because he was in the hospital getting he knee checked out only hours earlier.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 ]I was surprised Woody played in the first place because he was in the hospital getting he knee checked out only hours earlier.Pat-Zackly.Ya know, I'm glad Woody wasn't hurt and all, but seems like with the situation being what it is and the guy too injured to continue Monday, a night off is practically automatic. Isn't Cairo supposed to be healthy again?Woodrow didn't look particularly good last night till being PH for.Wright's DP was also a big buzzkill last nite. But really terrific job of hitting in the 9th.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Wright's DP and Reyes's pop-out with 2-on/no-outs = total buzz kills.Even a regular grounder there from Jose likely puts you at 1st & 3rd/1 out at worst. Instead, it led to woody's K which brought up Pedro.Jose upper-cuts too much from the left side.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I think this game was important, simply because we had Pedro going. Have to win those when he holds the opposition to 3 runs or less. The Mets just don't seem to be hitting much. I don't blame Willie for anything. When you don't score over the first eight you don't deserve to win.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Randolph gets killed by the radioheads if they go down with Woody there, also.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 The other "FIRE IMMEDIATELY" fodder was not walking Guillen to get to Baerga following Vidro's 2B. Guillen went on to single in Vidro w/the 3rd run.Over-reactions aside, he probably should have walked him.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
