MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Saw a new post on the NYFO site that ESPN radio is reporting thatthe Mets got Barry Zito. Then when I tried to open the thread, the site went down due to "heavy traffic".Can anyone confirm, give some details?Later
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I just took a quick look around my favorite "breaking news" sites and didn't see anything, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Jesus, I hope we didn't give up a top prospect for him, but I can't imagine Beane wouldn't hold out for a top prospect, especially this early in the year. Of course, it's all a vicious rumor at this point, so I should probably stay calm.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Nothing on any of the usual dim-light boards (espn.com board, mets.com board), and those places usually light up whenever something like that is mentioned on the radio. So I doubt it.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 They closed the thread at NYFO, calling it a bogus claim. The original poster said it was "Diaz & a prospect."
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 1050 just has Gammo as a guest. He reported you hang out at a lousy web site.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Shall we agree that, from this point forward, not to post any kind of news here based solely on the word of a NYFO poster?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 I been had (and I feel cheap and used).I promise.SorryLater
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Just crackin' nuts.FWIW, it made me tune in and catch a few minutes of Gammo. He says "I don't think there's a market for Tom Glavine." He also says he expects the Mets will make moves that attempt to improve their chances this year & next; iow, they won't go pie-in-the-sky for a prospect. He doesn't think the NL East will separate enough to necessarily cash any team out of it, so it could be an interesting deadline. But we pretty much know all that anyhow.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Prolly a trick to make more people listen to ESPN radio.
