Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 So who is coming when? Let me know, as I'd like to have youse all over one of those nights.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 We'll hit DC prolly early afternoon Sunday. I originally only had Mon andTues booked at the hotel you hooked us up with and I must say I thoughtit was very nice of them to let me add Sunday at the same group rate.Shannon sounds like a real hottie, but I digress ....
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 We'll be coming down Sunday and staying three nights. I don't know the timing for Sunday yet - it depends whether the little guy has a Little League game that day. I'll know more by the end of the week.In the meantime, what's the plan for 4th of July fireworks? Where should we meet for that?
Guest KC Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 I'd like to tailgate on the fourth! Anyone know RFK's tailgaiting policies?
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 They probably haven't gotten around to making policies yet. They still have Expos Baseball on the caller ID (I'm serious!).
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Weather has been great the last few days down here.Projected July 4 weather.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 The wtb & I are flying in Saturday morning and staying with friends in Virginia and then flying home Monday night because we both have to be at work on Tuesday. I'm hoping we see the fireworks from the plane. We'll be visiting lots of college friends but if Edgy comes up with something maybe we can drop in.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Vic - there's a ticket with your name on it, and a young lady in our group who would be happy to talk your ear off about Broadway musicals and comic books. Will you be joining us?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Our family will be arrriving the morning of Saturday, July 2nd. We will depart for home by noon on Tuesday, July 5th.I think tailgating for the game would be great. I plan to bring some pork barbecue and chilled beer for the event. Should be a great time.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I still have one ticket left. Any takers?
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Wish I could.I'll be there in spirit.Or dispirit as the case may be if this woeful team doesn't get its friggin' act together.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 This is a Redskins page, but I doubt the jist is different for baseball. I'll bring a couple of grills and tables. If everyone just brings what they wantto eat and drink and sit on we'll be set. http://www.johnnyroadtrip.com/cities/washington/tailgating.htm
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 So when's a good time for evuhbody to come by the Train Station (Casa d'Edgy) for a meal?
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Should we aim to gather the night of July 3?Also, what is the plan for fireworks on the 4th?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Rats! When I saw Mom's post about the remaining ticket I was going to go home and ask MMYF if we had anything planned that weekend. Before I could ask, she told me that a relative is moving to Texas and wold be coming up that weekend to say good-by. (Unfortunately, the relative is on my side of the family)Maybe next time. I would have loved to have put some faces to the names. Later
Guest KC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 >>>Should we aim to gather the night of July 3?<<<That makes most sense to me. >>>Also, what is the plan for fireworks on the 4th?<<<We watch them and go oooo ahhhhhh?More importantly, who wants to tailgate before the game?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I'll make plans for the third and hope the majority can come.Let me know who's coming in this thread and I'll e-mail you information about time, directions, weaponry...I think I have a good slot to watch the works from in Georgetown. Problem with G-Town, though, is usually parking. Let me think on it.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 The Third works for me - let me know how to arm the kids.Get your thinking cap on - we wanna watch fireworks with the Pool! When you're e-mailing, PLMK what I can bring to the festivities.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 >>>weaponry... <<<Do I need to bring my gun? I hate crossing state lines with my gun.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Fed Ex it to me, and I'll leave it in your hotel room.Homeland security has probably already flagged this thread.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Fed Exing a shot gun to Washington DC sounds a little risky.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Um, I was all up for meeting y'all until I saw you were bringing firearms. Yikes!
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 WP, if you can make it, go.It sounds like fun.For self defense you can bring your toaster and a power pack.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Everybody knows I only arm myself with THE FUNK.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 MFS62 wrote:WP, if you can make it, go.It sounds like fun.For self defense you can bring your toaster and a power pack.Laterand a loaf of bread
Guest KC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Isn't the watching of the fireworks done on a big grassy area where peoplecongregate and hopefully can get to without having to drive? Trying to getaround, find parking, and then all meet in a strange city doesn't sound toopromising. Now if we could all jump on a train from somewhere near the hotel that sounds a whole lot more accomadating. I know nothing, justthinking out loud.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 What you're talking about is a mass of humanity on the National Mall. It's just oft a little tough to handle the human density there.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 No human density for me, thank you. Maybe we can sneak up to the roof of the hotel.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Check out the Old Post Office Tower. Its a few blocks away from the main plaza and if they'll b eopen that night (not sure what time they close) you'll get a great view of the fireworks from there. Its now a tourist attraction with an upscale food court on the street level. Its walking distance from the Air and Space Museum, on th eother side of the green.Later
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Our plans are not set yet. We're getting the\re on the 2nd and leavinfg the 5th I think
