Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago A 4:10 start featuring Martin Perez for the Braves vs ... some guy in a NYM uniform, probably one to be quickly followed by another guy in the same duds. Odds favor Sean Manaea in the second role though auditions are still being conducted as to the lead. Kevin Costner has been ruled out as being too old, ditto Tom Cruise for being too short, and Brad Pitt's rate, even for just a one day appearance, is more than David Stearns is willing to pay. Martin Perez is the now 35 y/o lefty who was once highly touted prospect with Texas in the early 20-teens. Although never quite becoming a star he has been a fairly reliable 'takes the ball' kind of guy since his 2013 rookie season as he's wandered from the Twins to Red Sox, then back to the Rangers for their WS season. Since then he's spent brief stints with the Pirates, Padres and White Sox before landing this past off-season with the Braves. Naturally since he's in Atlanta he's off to a good start [3.02 ERA / 1.06 WHIP thru 13 G/10 starts] and sports a H/9 rate that's the lowest of his career [6.4]. I sense Mark Vientos being untied from the bench for the day.
