The Mets losing a day off for travel due to the mid-series weather cancellation in Colorado is at least mitigated by their quick jaunt south to Arizona.  (The Rockies, by contrast have to fly to the East Coast and lose two hours.)

It's a fair guess that many Met fans who flew to Denver to take in the action will follow the team to Phoenix for the continued fun, and you can too — at least digitally, but partaking in this exciting in-game thread!!!

Nolan McLean brings it for the Mets against fellow righthander Ryne Nelson.  The Mets — and I have confirmed this with my own research — are undefeated on May 8, 2026.  DIAL IN FOR THE ACTION RIGHT HERE!!

Diamondbacks coming off losing a home series to the Pirates, despite outscoring the Buccos — winning the first game 9-0 before dropping the second and third by 1-0 and 4-2 scores.

I'll let you guess who pitched the first eight innings of that 1-0 game for the Pirates.

Stick around for fireworks after the game.

Puck drops at 9:40 tonight, ugh! We do get a break tomorrow, though, as it's a FOX game so sked for 7:15 EDT

Then after tonight there are just four west coast late starts left in the season: MON/TUE June 1 & 2 in Seattle followed by FRI/SAT later that same week in Sandy Eggo. Between this road trip and that one we actually get a road stint that doesn't cross multiple time zones [Nats and Marlins May 18-24]

We've been promised an exciting IGT

Maybe that bodes well for our 3-4 guys Baty and Vientos

You see these videos now and then of Vientos coming into a pizzeria at night with full jewelry on doing the swaggy thing. He's barely at the Mendoza line

Please feel free to share said videos.  Also, since you are hinting at the starting lineup, please feel free to post it in the future.

METS

Starting Pitcher:

Nolan McLean RHP 1-2, 2.97 ERA

Lineup:

  1. Juan Soto (L) LF
  2. Bo Bichette (R) SS
  3. Brett Baty (L) 3B
  4. Mark Vientos (R) 1B
  5. Carson Benge (L) CF
  6. Marcus Semien (R) 2B
  7. MJ Melendez (L) RF
  8. Francisco Alvarez (R) DH
  9. Luis Torrens (R) C

ARIZONA

Starting Pitcher:

Ryne Nelson RHP 1-3, 6.61 ERA

Lineup:

  1. Geraldo Perdomo (S) SS
  2. Ketel Marte (S) 2B
  3. Corbin Carroll (L) RF
  4. Adrian Del Castillo (L) DH
  5. Ildemaro Vargas (S) 1B
  6. Nolan Arenado (R) 3B
  7. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (R) LF
  8. Gabriel Moreno (R) C
  9. Jorge Barrosa (S) CF

I get the feeling that, if you are not named "Nolan" or "Ryne" or maybe "Bryce," you ain't nuttin' in this world.

Baty-Vientos-Benge through the heart of the order is a terrific leap of faith.

You'll see.  Mets with their back up against it is a good show to watch.  Sometimes, it's the best show to watch.

This song from the AM radio era of my youth suddenly jumped into my mind for the first times in probably multiple decades. I think my sister owned the 45

As mentioned by Gary in the telecast tonight, he's given up 29 runs this season (23 earned) but 8 of them came in 1/3 of an inning which certainly skews things a bit.

Yeah, averages are still skewed at this point.

The Serpientes uniform features turquoise on purple with a very narrow black outline.

They're trying hard, but it doesn't really pop.  A white outline would've worked better.

Chasing that high fastball.  Chasing that high fastball.  Also, they're chasing that high fastball.

They are taking the name "Chase Field" too literally.

Ball four to Moreno should have been challenged by the Mets.

But strike three to Fernandez right after that should have been challenged by the Serpientes.

I didn't even know that Mark Lindsay had a non-Raiders solo career.

Talent like that can't be contained by just one band. Eventually it needs its own outlet.

Looking him up, he apparently had a pre-raiding career as well.
