Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago Well, one of the Mets finally managed to get the ball out of the infield. Unfortunately it was Alvarez when he had his equipment on rather than his batting helmet.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago That leadoff hit by Bichette is the start of a huge rally!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Thirdbaseman 40 feet off the line and deep against Soto.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago 3rd inning: one out baserunner .... followed by 1st pitch GiDP 4th inning: two leadoff baserunners ... K, K, BB, ? ... F-9 Semien's bases-loaded drive didn't send Adell rolling deep enough.

In my defense, bases loaded, two outs, a lot of pitches expended by the starting pitcher, and flare to right almost kinda falling in ... amounts to a huge rally, relatively speaking.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago If Scott almost kinda finds himself here, that would make another otherwised lackluster effort almost kinda worth it. Almost kinda. But no.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Bobby Valentine in the house also. Don't tell me that the Mets aren't interviewing managerial candidates.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Damn, that ball just came off the pitcher's leg faster than most balls have come off the Mets' bats tonight.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago This Brent Sutter guy used to be a real anchor for the Islanders centering the third line.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Austin Slater must be the first Mets position player to wear 40 since, like, Kevin Collins.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Hey, you guys! Marcus Semien just got a big hit!! I mean ... for the Mets!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago Mauricio is such a tantalizing talent.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I'm guessing that Soto comes out of the game here, even though they don't really have a reserve outfielder on the bench. Maybe they send Baty out there and put Vientos or Ibáñez at first.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I want Ronny Mauricio to be a real thing so badly.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago The key to the Mets kinda sorta finding their sticks is to chase the starting pitcher relatively early. Of course, this one left with an injury, not by being worn down piecemeal by the lineup. Also, Alvarez is chasing the Mets' season GiDP record which I have to assume belongs to Gary Carter.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago I don't overturn this one ... and they don't.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The last guy in that photo of Seaver, Ali, Krane, and McGraw is Ernie Ladd, 1960s defensive tackle.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago 18 in a row retired by NYM pitchers. Looks like we did get rid of the belly itchers after all.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Mets haven't successfully converted a save since April 5.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago It's a slim lead ... not a sure deal by any means.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Wow. Twenty-one Angels in a row. Let's remember to bank one off the knee of tomorrow's starter, too.

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago That was weird… they actually won, and a rather dominating 8th and 9th, to boot.
