Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 24 Posted March 24 If you're the type of person who cares about the sartorial, well, you should know right now (so it doesn't ruin your Opening Day), the Davey Johnson memorial patch is memorably fugly.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 24 Posted March 24 That will look fantastic if the Mets are wearing Dickies work shirts this year instead of baseball jerseys.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Does that mean that the retirement of David Wright's 5 also extends to memorial patches for others who had worn that number? If so, bad news for Mike Phillips.

If so, bad news for Mike Phillips. I guess putting a number on a memorial patch when it is retired in the rafters in honor of another figure was seen to be a bad look. I tend to think memorial patches featuring numbers are silly, and the notion that the default way to honor someone is through veneration of the number is lazy and way out of hand. All that said, this patch shows about one half a second of thoughtfulness, and I don't know why the Mets don't call me about these things.
