Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21 Author Posted July 21 You get to tag players when you publish an article, and the available tags include all players who have appeared in articles on any of the Grand Central Mets family of sites. I, it turns out, am the first guy to have tagged Zach Crotchfelt, and I feel like I should win something.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Clay Holmes sent on rehab to Syracuse. Mets release Yonny Hernández.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 27 Author Posted July 27 Exciting new draftees signed! Thrilling new undrafted guys gathered in like repentant sinners! Rehabbers rehabbing! Minor league vets tossed aside! It's all there in the dramatic new Mets Roster Central update, "Signing Day Fun!"! As always, you can give that story a well deserved hit while jumping right to the full roster!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31 Author Posted July 31 C. O'Neill Perez to the injured list with a strained forearm. Jonathan Pintaro and Xzavion Curry rejoin the team to replace him and A.J. Minter. That's two righties to replace two lefties, so that's sub-optimal. Go, Senga, go!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Clay Holmes on rehab to Brooklyn. Robert Stock selected from the minors. Kevin Herget promoted then DFA'd. MJ Melendez DFA'd. Joey Gerber released. Catcher Shawn Ross claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh, then optioned.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 3 Posted August 3 The Mets selected Bryce Conley when they DFA'd Herget. He'll be a 31-year-old rookie, should he pitch for them this year. They also optioned Jonathan Pintaro.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 One more time for those in the back: Acquired Jefferson Rojas from Cubs for Clay Holmes and Tyrone Taylor. Acquired Sammy Stafura from Pirates for Luke Weaver and cash considerations. Acquired Chayce McDermott from Dodgers for Ben Rortvedt. Acquired Luke Gabrysh and John Spikerman from Phillies for Brooks Raley. Acquired Gabe Davis and Zach Franklin from White Sox for Huascar Brazoban. Acquired Aidan Smith, Emilien Pitre and Gary Gill Hill from the Rays for Freddy Peralta. Also, the Mets recalled Xzavion Curry.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Lots of room left now on the pitching staff. The question in my mind is : who will that vacuum suck up and/ or will the pitchers filling that void suck? Later
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Well, one move has been announced. 29-year-old Jefry Yan, still averaging 16,6 K/9 this year, has had his contract selected. He's not one of these "young prospects" we want to see, but at least he's not a major league retread.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I am super excited for this guy. He's nuts. The others are Nate Lavender, making his MLB debut; Dedniel Nunez, back from injury; McDermott, who was the Rortvedt trade; and Christian Pache, into the Tyrone Taylor Memorial Fifth Outfielder Roster Spot.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Mets Clean House Release: Eris Albino Luis Alvarez Sam Biller Yoralbert Cadiz Taylor Darden Franyel Diaz Jordan Geber Jackson Hauge Nick Lucky Adolfo Miranda Jaylen Palmer - 22nd round pick in 2018 Sam Robertson - 17th round pick in 2025 Jose Rojas Matt Rudick - 13th round pick in 2021 AJ Salgado Jack Scanlon JT Schwartz - 4th round pick in 2021 Jun-Seok Shim Onix Vega Omar Victorino Brandon Waddell Tanner Witt - 14th round pick in 2024 Sucks about Waddell, he was solid last year. Kept waiting for Geber to do something, but he never quite got there. Spent parts of three seasons at Triple-A, but never made the majors. Had some solid numbers, though. Rudick also showed occasional promise, but not enough. Diaz could strike guys out, but couldn't master his control. Same could be said for Victorino, Witt and others. Schwartz was a pretty high pick, but never showed any standout skills in the minors. Robertson had good speed and could draw a walk; they might've wanted to give him a longer look. Nick Lucky wasn't a free agent long, rejoining the independent Lancaster Stormers not long after his release. Onix Vega wasn't a free agent long, either, as he's already latched on with the independent Kansas City Monarchs. Jackson Hauge has returned to his former home, the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars and Taylor Darden has returned to his former home, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Nick Roselli, released in July, was signed by the independent Long Island Ducks. Mets signed a youngster named Biguey Santana. Grae Kessinger, released by the Mets in July, later signed with the Pirates. Adbert Alzolay, released at about the same time as Kessinger, later signed with the Toros de Tijuana of the Mexican League. Tyler Burch, released by the Mets in June, signed with the indy Gastonia Ghost Peppers a few days ago. John Valle, released by the Mets in June, was quickly signed by the Nationals, who just as quickly released him after a few games in their system.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 They didn't stop, apparently. Wyatt Young has been released. Ji Hwan Bae has been released. They also ... activated Dedniel Núñez from the 60-day injured list. activated Chayce McDermott. designated Bryce Conley for assignment. recalled Jefry Yan from Triple-A Syracuse. outrighted Kevin Herget to Triple-A Syracuse. selected Cristian Pache's contract from Triple-A Syracuse. outrighted MJ Melendez to Triple-A Syracuse. selected Nate Lavender's contract from Triple-A Syracuse.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Mike Tauchman released! Austin Warren on rehab to Syracuse!
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Poor Tauchman. He went from "probable starting outfielder" a week before opening day to "13 for 61 with one RBI in the minors and released."
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Bryce Conley optioned to Binghamton. Gabriel Arias activated. Eric Wagaman optioned. Minor leaguer Kevin Villavicencio has been released. He'd been in the system since 2021, but spent only 2 games at Triple-A. They also released Christian Arroyo and minor leaguer Trace Willhoite.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Don't know if it was ever mentioned in this thread, but Tommy Pham signed a minor league deal with the Phillies in late June. Robinson Martinez, released by the Mets in April, signed a deal with the Acereros de Monclova in the Mexican League on July 3.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10 Posted August 10 While your efforts are appreciated, some of them may also be misplaced. The purpose of this thread is documenting the changes to the Mets major league 40 man roster. I think your information regarding players who were property of the Mets but not on the 40 man roster may be more appropriate in some other thread. e.g.- the "ex- Mets in 2026" thread. Later
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Just following the standard set by the thread's progenitor. Unless I am mistaken players being signed away has historically been noted in this thread. This thread has historically captured the wide array of Meta transactions, not just those involving the 40-man roster. MFS62 1
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Cole Fowler, released earlier this year, signed with the independent Washington Wild Things. Trey Rutledge, released earlier this year, signed with the independent Hagerstown Boxcars.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Mets released Simon Juan, once a pretty highly ranked prospect. He never played above Single-A. They also released Andy Ibanez and Jackson Cluff. Christopher Morel is being called up.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Ryan Clifford has been placed on the development list. This is to allow him to work on things ( in his case, hitting) without the pressure of minor league game action. I'm not sure if this has 40 man roster implicactions or what they might be. Later
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Transactions going back a while: Mark Vientos sent on rehab to Binghamton, then Syracuse, then activated. Xzavion Curry recalled then optioned. Juan Soto activated. Eric Wagaman recalled then optioned. Luis Robert Jr. put on waivers then claimed by Orioles. Justin Hagenman sent on rehab to St. Lucie, then to Binghamton, then to Syracuse. Jorge Polanco put on 10-day IL, then moved to 60-day IL. Chris Devenski signed then selected from Syracuse. Chayce McDermott optioned, then recalled, then optioned. Gabriel Arias DFA'd, then claimed off waivers by Cubs. Jack Weisenburger optioned to Syracuse. Austin Warren activated.

Dalton Mall, released by the Mets in February, later signed with the independent Lancaster Stormers. Leandy Mella, released by the Mets in February, later signed with the Tigers organization.
