Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Bichette's actually done pretty well post-May: 290/.335/.444 with 12 homers and 48 RBI. So, I'm cautiously optimistic. Lindor, Beltran and Diaz underwhelmed their first years in New York, and they ended up being pretty good. We might see the same out of Bichette. ...actually, it was an awful April that really dragged him down. May onward he's hit .271/.322/.411 with 15 home runs 62 RBI. Not worth the $147 million or whatever we paid him this year, but not terrible, either.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 23 Posted September 23 September 22, 2026. The summer was dying in the lights of Citi Field, and the Mets were rearranging the pieces for one last September dream. Devin Williams came walking back from the injured list, while Christian Scott took his place among the wounded. Andy Green, once merely temporary, was suddenly permanent—a three-year promise beneath the autumn sky. And somewhere beyond the dugout, the front office began whispering a new name: Derek Falvey. The season was ending, but baseball, as it always does, was already becoming tomorrow.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 25 Posted September 25 There was, in the Mets’ house, a quiet rearrangement of the living and the dead—a shifting of names that, though recorded in the sterile language of transactions, possessed something of the solemnity of a midnight burial. Christopher Rochin was released from the DSL, his brief passage through the organization ending without ceremony. At Syracuse, Guillo Zuñiga and Zack Short emerged from the seven-day injured list, returning once more to the roster as if summoned from some temporary exile. Yet the more curious disturbance occurred in New York. The Mets, having claimed the left-handed Philip Abner from the San Francisco Giants, consigned him to the minors almost as soon as his name had crossed their threshold. In the same breath, Xzavion Curry was designated for assignment, his place within the organization suddenly suspended in that peculiar limbo where a player's fate is neither settled nor entirely his own. Thus, in the waning days of September, the Mets' roster became a chamber of revolving doors—some men returning from absence, another arriving only to disappear below, and still another left waiting in the darkness for word of what would become of him.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 There was, one might say, a certain disturbance in the Mets’ household this weekend—a rearrangement of pieces that seemed at first merely routine, yet carried with it the faint air of mystery. On September 27, RHP Jonathan Pintaro was placed upon the 15-day injured list, the nature of his illness left undisclosed, while LHP Jefry Yan was summoned from the FCL Mets to take his place. The previous day had seen another curious exchange: RHP Chayce McDermott was recalled from Syracuse, only for Yan, who has again rejoined the major-league club, to be sent back to the FCL. And on September 25, the comings and goings became positively intricate. RHP Xzavion Curry was sent outright to the FCL Mets, RHP Jack Weisenburger was optioned there as well, and RHP Justin Hagenman was recalled from Syracuse. Thus the Mets’ roster had been shuffled once again, with pitchers appearing and disappearing through the clubhouse doors like guests at a country house gathering. Yet, as in any good mystery, the most conspicuous detail may be the one left unexplained: precisely what had befallen Jonathan Pintaro, and why the Mets had so urgently begun rearranging the pieces. (I've had AI write the past few entries in the styles of certain authors. If you can guess the authors, I will reward you with, well, nothing, but it's still a fun exercise).

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 30 Posted September 30 And so they slowly drift away ... Kevin Herget has elected free agency. Those 2025 Mets teased us by giving a lot of potentially solid relievers just a few appearances here and there. Herget was one. Brandon Waddell, let go earlier this year, was another. Hagenman, Rico Garcia, etc.
