Heart of the Sea

This movie is about the Nantucket whaling ship Essex, which was attacked by a sperm whale and sunk. 
The crew had to abandon ship and floated on their whaling boats for three months.   Some of them didn’t make it  

 The actors portraying the whalers existed on a 500 calorie diet to lose the weight the whalers lost.

I read the book and it was excellent,I am actually not sure if I have seen the movie

I didn't know they had made a movie of this.  The book is tremendous.

Great book!  I have enjoyed several fine books by Nathaniel Philbrick, 

I did not know that Heart of the Sea hd been made into a movie.
