Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Like Marcus Semien before me, I'm not here so much because of my productivity ceiling. I have decent ceiling, like Marcus, but recent performance suggests that I'm not particularly likely to get up high enough to paint it.No, what I am here for — and again, I'm like Marcus in this regard — is that my defense controls my floor to an extent. Defense isn't as variable as offense from year to year, and my defense is ... well, it's my defense. It's what made a team go out and give up two live players for me (one named Acuna) after two years of brown liquid offense. That's what a couple of young guys and $20 million by you these days — a good but hard-to-reach ceiling and a floor that is hard to crash through. That's what me with a ladder in a room looks like. What does my 2026 look like? Picture me in that room, on that ladder. What do you see?[FIMG=352]https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSYrn3Eu6jqWI2y55L4WMCbDiyOLRuON-LxXA&s[/FIMG] [FIMG=348]https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/vVr2B7w49ejyDGZ6kmtJYw--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTY0MDtoPTQyNztjZj13ZWJw/https://media.zenfs.com/en/ny_post_sports_articles_389/154e71439a37761f221e991ba3d7c721[/FIMG][FIMG=477]https://i0.wp.com/www.stadiumrant.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/roberts.jpg[/FIMG] [FIMG=223]https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ3QBVSL9JAaaRxJcG3m1hspVTPAdwqoixogQ&s[/FIMG]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 Not a lot of strong feelings here.Luis Robert is going to have a great first half, with 15 homers and a batting average around .280, and then he will disappear in the second half, with three homers. His final BA will slowly fall to .239, and his OBP will be sub-.300.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I expect him to be stuck on that first rung. 12/45/.225 with plenty of IL time thrown in.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 13 Posted March 13 HE'LL STEAL A LOT OF BASESAND BRINGS ELITE 'D'ALSO MAKES GREAT CONTACTBUT ONLY OFF A TEEBURMA SHAVE
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 15 Posted March 15 .230 BA, 11 HR, 47 RBI, and everyone will hate having him around by July.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I'd love to go optimistic here. But I'm just not feeling it. Maybe cuz he has Ryan Thompson vibes. Under .700 OPS. Fans start clamoring for AJ Ewing by mid-season.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I'm not feeling it either. I think that by the end of the summer he'll have a substantially reduced role.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Expectations are low so I'll be happily surprised if he does better than expected
