Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 9 Posted March 9 In an offseason that seemed as much about shedding as augmenting, it is easy to forget among the names friends lost — Nimmo, Alonso, Diaz, McNeil, Marte, Acuna, ... Stanek! — the names of the friends we have acquired. I am one of those friends, and my name is Marcus Semien.I'm a good(-ish) hitter, but the better part of my value is found in my glove. At 35 however, it is an open question how much longer I can keep either of those balls in the air. Roberto Alomar won the Gold Glove the year before he came to the Mets (as part of a string of 10 Goldies in 11 years), and by the end of his first season in flushing, he was bringing his glove to the park in a wheelbarrow. But I'm not trying to think of that. Forget I brought that up. In fact, I don't even know what that means. I'm Marcus Semien, and I'm awesome. I'm so good that it takes a Zimmo to acquire me. I've got two more years left on my contract at $26 million per, and a dimple the size of Grand Canyon, and I am psyched to show the Mets what I can do.What am I gonna do?[FIMG=320]https://empiresportsmedia.com/cdn-cgi/image/width=858,height=572,fit=crop,quality=90,gravity=auto,sharpen=1,metadata=none,format=auto,onerror=redirect/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/MLB-New-York-Mets-Media-Day-28283607.jpg[/FIMG] [FIMG=380]https://images.contentstack.io/v3/assets/bltf7a82b39b0908da4/blt00b4bc643c3e87ba/699b4c25b13d650008b50106/marcus_semien.jpg?format=jpg&quality=75[/FIMG][FIMG=457]https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/02/newspress-collage-gvr9pdd8v-1771697941517.jpg?quality=75&strip=all&1771679969&w=1024[/FIMG] [FIMG=243]https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS7_I4z2ZzejANEwZdmyoCLzoOOf4jFo-lNpg&s[/FIMG]

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 9 Posted March 9 I feel like he's gonna suck.OPS in the mid to low .600's. Defense will be fine. Will not be a regular by the end of the season. Defensive replacement by the post-season.
