The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted February 7 Posted February 7 You can never have too many relievers, particularly lefties. Anthony Banda signed a new 1 year contract ($1.625 million) with the Dodgers in January. The Dodgers DFAd him this afternoon. Probably worth a look since, if he works out, the Mets would only owe him the league minimum of $740,000. If he doesn't work out, then you cut your losses. I guess the issue would be 40 man roster space.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 7 Posted February 7 That's always the issue with relievers, right?I like Banda's distinctive look. I could see him eating up 30 or so innings on the back end for somebody, but I don't think he has enough left to make any kind of difference. It would be nice to see him shave a few points off that 7+ ERA he put up for the Mets back in 2021, though.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Hard to say no to a big league level lefty reliever. You never know when they might have an Aaron Loup season.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Yabbut, saying Yes can mean saying No to AJ Minter or Brooks Raley.Or possibly some other shnook. Anthony Banda is definitely a guy you want on a minor-league deal.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Anthony Banda seems to end on very good teams and I got a ring this yearSure you reach out, no brainet
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted February 11 Posted February 11 He'd be worth a one-year contract. Second time's the charm.
