duan Old-Timey Member Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Dilson was one of those guys who I was irrationally enthusiastic about. A middle infielder putting up successive seasons of 900ish ops in AA and AAA. then prospect writers were saying the likes of this "Traded to the Mets in the August 2013 deal that sent John Buck and Marlon Byrd to the Pirates, Herrera excelled in his first year with his new organization. He began the season with Class A Advanced Port St. Lucie and ended it in Queens. The 20-year-old has an advanced understanding of hitting and has the makings of an offensive-minded second baseman."I thought we had ourselves a Roberto Alomar clone on the way...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Juan Lagares, who hasn't played in MLB since 2022 but has been playing in the Dominican Winter League for the last few years, has officially announced his retirement from professional baseball. The now 36 y/o originally signed with the Mets in 2006.On instagram: “Thank you so much, Águilas family, ... Thank you to the fans for your unconditional support on and off the field. I will be eternally grateful. God bless you always. With gratitude and pride.”[FIMG=600]https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/02/12-new-york-mets-makes-29617041.jpg?resize=1024,683&quality=75&strip=all[/FIMG]Tip of the hat, Juan.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 It appears Jacob Nottingham has retired.Paolo Espino retired.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 Legendary Met Julio Teheran has retired.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Legendary? I've taken naps that lasted longer than his NYM tenure.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 Mets legend T.J. McFarland has retired.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Jason Heyward has made, or is about to, his retirement official. He wasn't as good as some of us thought he was going to be from the outset. But spending sixteen years in the major leagues is a helluva 'naccomplishment on its own, so a tip of the cap to Heyward and his six Gold Gloves, #2 RoY, and three seasons with MVP votes.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 29 Author Posted March 29 Heyward was solid. He was expected to be a legend, but ended up being solid. Will get a vote or two in Hall of Fame voting I imagine. 2x Gold Glove-winning catcher Roberto Perez has retired.
Elian Pena St. Lucie Mets - A SS In St. Lucie's Wednesday doubleheader, the 18-year-old shortstop went 3-for-7 with a walk and his 7th and 8th doubles. He's hitting .346/.460/.481 (.941). Also 8 steals in 9 attempts. Explore Elian Pena News >
