MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2025 Posted April 19, 2025 I had forgotten that Miggy played shortstop. BR lists him at 5-9, 220 lbs, but he led the league with 159 games played there at age 35 (2009).Rodriguez should have hit many more as a shortstop but, you know, Jeter. It will give me great joy when Lindor passes Derek.Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 METS HOME RUN LEADERSFrancisco Lindor's next home run will knock Todd Hundley out of the Top Ten. Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2025 Posted June 5, 2025 Pete now only two home runs away from tying David Wright for second place.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 Pete now only two home runs away from tying David Wright for second place. And now he's no HRs away from tying Wright. With Pete's HR pace picking up lately, the timing for the tie-Straw and break-Straw now projects to occur in late July. It was mid-August last time I checked. At his current HR pace for the year, #252 is slated for game #105 on 7/28, right in the middle of the remaining west coast swing to SF & SD, with #253 slated for four to five days later when the club is back home.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 In your previous post I meant to add the caveat that the above projection dates were based on Pete not hitting any more HRs today. So ignore everything I wrote above ... y'know, like most of you usually do.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 With his home run last night, Juan Soto now has 13 homers as a Met, putting him in a tie for 148th place with Dave Marshall, Ellis Valentine, Matt Franco, Roberto Alomar, Eric Valent, Moises Alou, and James McCann.Hmmmm...Maybe this isn't as interesting as I originally thought.But... Dave Marshall!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2025 Posted July 9, 2025 Juan Soto has walked 72 times, and the Mets have played 92 games. He's on a pace to walk 126.78 times this season, although it's unlikely he'll finish with that exact amount. The club record for walks in a season is 125, by John Olerud in 1999. No one else has come close. The next highest total is 97, by Keith Hernandez in 1984 and Darryl Strawberry in 1997.Meanwhile, Pete Alonso is now only five home runs shy of Strawberry's all-time club record. Brandon Nimmo recently became the 14th Met to have 900 hits. (He's currently at 905.) And Francisco Lindor became the 12th Met to steal 100 bases. 1. Jose Reyes 4082. Mookie Wilson 2813. Howard Johnson 2024. David Wright 1965. Darryl Strawberry 1916. Lee Mazzilli 1527. Lenny Dykstra 1168. Bud Harrelson 1159. Wally Backman 10610. Roger Cedeno 10511. Carlos Beltran 10011. Francisco Lindor 100
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 20, 2025 Author Posted August 20, 2025 Jeff McNeil's homerun this evening was his 78th as a Met. It breaks a tie with Robin Ventura, giving him sole possession of 27th place all-time as a Met.Mark Vientos' homerun this evening was his 46th as a Met. It breaks a tie with Donn Clendenon, and ties him with John Stearns, Dom Smith, and Jay Bruce for 47th place all-time as a Met.Juan Soto's homerun this evening was his 31st as a Met. It breaks a tie with Lenny Dykstra, and ties him with Ken Boswell for 76th place all-time as a Met.Brett Baty's homerun this evening was his 29th as a Met. It breaks a tie with Joe Christopher, and ties him with Mo Vaughn and Ty Wigginton for 796th place all-time as a Met.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 McNeil is one double away from tying Darryl Strawberry for 9th all-time in club history. Brandon Nimmo is 3 away from tying Strawberry. Nimmo is also likely to move into the top 10 in plate appearances, bumping Mookie Wilson out of the ranking. Nimmo is one triple away from tying Cleon Jones for fourth all-time in team history.
