Falvey Fever!

Will Sammon of The Athletic is reporting (and Steve Drumwright of this site is echoing) that the Mets have hired former Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey for a non-specified front office role under David Stearns.

Falvey comes from the talent evaluation side of the game.  He made some savvy moves in Minnesota, but was criticized for a fire sale last summer that he executed under some duress, and he left the organization in January.

Falvey knows how to rock the on-the-field-in-a-half-zip-with-a-takeout-cup-of-coffee look, which, to my reckoning, is half the job of a modern, big-shot baseball executive.  Well done!

Falvey played for Trinity College in Massachusetts, graduated with an economics degree, and got started in baseball by scouting the Cape Cod League independently, which is an impressively rogue way to get started.

Sometimes other voices isn't such a great idea. I mean it's fine that The Doors wanted to carry on following Morrison's death but did anyone really want to hear them without Jim as the front man?

I won’t pretend I have any basis for judging this move. But I’m glad the Mets are being proactive. 
 

Hopefully he can stop Stearns from doing stupid shit.
