Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 15 Posted September 15 The first in the series was Miguel, who played for the club in 2005. Next in the series is Christian, Miguel's son, whom the Mets claimed from the Phillies today. Though not a high-average hitter, the infielder has good speed, stealing 25, 33 and 26 bases over the past three years, respectively. He has 90 walks to just 76 Ks at Triple-A this year and owns a .360 career OBP. He has two full seasons of Triple-A experience under his belt, plus a good chunk of a third. Cairo can play all over the place, with significant experience at third, second, short and in the outfield. He was originally taken by the Guardians in the 4th round of the 2019 draft. Welcome aboard, Christian.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Welcome aboard to Christian indeed. But I was really hoping there was going to be an MLB series in Cairo in 2027. whippoorwill 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Christian sure bears the image and likeness of his dad.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Here's a younger version of Miguel (left), alongside Christian. (Old '90s portrait studio lighting was tacky, but anything beats the Gray Void.)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I saw the thread title and was worried MLB had roped the Mets into playing a regular season series in Egypt next season.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I did too! but how cool would that be??
duan Old-Timey Member Posted September 29 Posted September 29 pretty hot actually - Cairo's daily average highs are 27c (81 f) - 35c to 34c (93f) during the baseball season. whippoorwill 1
