Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Mets are currently winging it to Miami (well, they're probably going to shower and change first ... but soon, trust me on this one) so as to make it in time for Monday's 1:10 Labor Day first pitch. Eury Perez -- that 6' 15" guy (with the supposedly pint-sized parents) that we never seem to hit -- gets the start for Miami. This will be the third time we'll see him in 2026 with NYM bats slashing a non-impressive .119/.153/.190 off of him over the first two [a 2 - 1 Marlins win and a 4 - 2 Mets win]. For the good guys it'll be Jonah Tong!!!!! making his first start and fourth game of 2026. Last time we saw him was June 2nd when he was coughing up 4 runs in 3 innings in Seattle (so most of us probably didn't see it).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Whoah. I guess this possibly means they are flying into Donald J. Trump International, as gross as that would be. whippoorwill 1
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 7 Posted September 7 They flew to Fort Lauderdale, landed 9:13 PM EDT. whippoorwill 1

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 A 2-0 lead in the first and we've got a three-man booth with Zeile in Keith's chair. I thought Keith always took to the Florida trips to help his tax position. whippoorwill 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Jonah Reid Tin Chee Matthew Tong looking brilliant, coming from straight over the top and whiffing the side. Changeup screwing them into the ground.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Bang a stick! Look at Nick! Against a righthander and everything!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Gary Carter mentioned among the leaders in homeruns after intentional walks. Darling speculates that it tended to happen after walking Andre Dawson. Gary Cohen counters that it also happened after walking Strawberry. Only as a third thought did anybody mention Keith. Did they not watch the Mets? Carter — when he was good — batted behind Keith, day in and day out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Perez gets swing and misses on some weak off-speed stuff. I imagine changing off the fastball and him being a giant help him out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Gets in a 3-0 hole to open the second against Otto Lopez and then whiffs him on the next three. Eye-opening.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 A couple of hits and he starts to lose the zone.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Wow. Pauley of all people dunks on the Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Jonah Reid Tin Chee Matthew Tong disappeared for a bit in the second. Utterly. But there he is back in the third.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I'm guessing the guys most frequently walked to set up homers by Carter are Hernandez and Al Oliver.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Quote 6 4 +3 ---- 2 This odd math is tattooed on Sandy Alcantara's forearm.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Let's hear it for big ballparks where the ball bounces forever.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Y'all gotta get on board with this game. Morabito has his first career theft.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 A double down the left field line scores Benj from first. Foul territory room in the outfield is a beautiful thing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 If they can put another point or two on the board, let's get Pache into the game and let Ewing finish the game at second.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 7 Posted September 7 The Mets could technically still be a .500 team this year.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Bo could've considered running that out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Now it's time to put on your Padres gear and start rooting for San Diego. If they take care of business this afternoon/early evening, the Mets are a fourth-place club.
