Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Bichette took a long time to get there, but he's finally got an OPS over .700.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Vientos 0-for-2 with a walk tonight with Binghamton. Manaea entering the sixth on 70 pitches and getting the first out on a single pitch.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I can't help but to wonder where the Mets would if Bichette Manaea, and others, were performing earlier as they are now
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Shmanaea making the same pitch twice in a row to a guy swinging for the fences was a mistake, but I didn't even see what he threw to Grichuk.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22 Posted August 22 WOW. Way to not visit the mound when your guy is in trouble, Mets braintrust.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22 Posted August 22 If it's got to happen in the ninth, it's got to happen in the ninth.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Too many guys taking strikes down the middle. Flailing at garbage.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Umps are going to start squeezing Yanni out of spite.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Steve J. Rogers up for the Sox with the game on the line.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 22 Posted August 22 If the season wasn’t already over this would be a supremely annoying loss.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Every night we either win or move closer to a high draft pick. tonight’s it’s draft pick.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Well, the real issue is that he was out there in a tie game in the ninth against a first place team. That doesn't say "We're out there to win," so much as "It'd be cool to win, but whatever."

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that statement was already made when Minter, Raley, Weaver, and Brazoban ceased being members of the bullpen. But even taking just the current roster into account: The deployment of Lavendar and Duarte was good. If not using Senga in a tied game in the ninth (not exactly a radical strategic move), is Yan not the next best option?

I tells ya) in stating that the team would likely get better. They have, and they's gots to honor that with competitive deployment. But yeah, Senga is your guy there. Yan is my last guy right now. His performance has been neither fresh nor fly.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Last night reminded me of a Yanqui game. The Sox totaled just six hits but four were HRs and those accounted for all their runs. Apropos of that, they're currently in the 9th today in the Bronx with the Jays outhitting the Yanx 15 - 3 ... and enjoying a whopping 4-3 lead.
