The Diamondbacks acquired outfielder Lars Nootbaar from the Cardinals in exchange for left-hander Sandro Santana, right-hander Daniel Eagan, and a player to be named later.

The Yankees acquired outfielder Heliot Ramos from the Giants in exchange for left-hander Henry Lalane and shortstop Kaeden Kent.

I was intrigued by the the Red Sox dealing Marcello Mayer.  Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with Mayer or Kristian Campbell that's not a direct result of their injuries.  Mayer was a good buy-low for the Giants, and Campbell will be the same for somebody as well.

I think that other than the Cubs and the Dodgers, nobody really went for it.  That's frustrating as fuck when you are rooting for a seller, but it is what it is.  Most teams overvalue their prospects.  The Brewers and Rays were probably thinking that not outbidding the Dodgers for a playoff run with Skubal will give them more opportunities down the road to be buyers and then not go for it.

To accommodate the Arraez acquisition, the Phillies are moving Byson Stott to third, Alec Bohm to first, and Bryce Harper back to the outfield.  It will be interesting to see what kind of hellfire rains down on their GM over this.

Hellfire? I'm pretty sure that group will drive in more than it lets in (old baseball adage). I wish the Mets had the  problem of wondering where to play all the productive bats.

Orioles and Tigers are each 2 1/2 games out of the Wild Card race, and each watching their management fold the tent around them.

The Tiggers are trying to replicate their 2024 stretch drive where they were heavy sellers at the deadline and then went 34 - 19 in Aug & Sep to make the playoffs and win a round before going out 3G to 2 in the ALDS round.

But dealing a reigning 2x CY AND a former 1/1 draft pick in the same weekend deserves special recognition.

Things have already been testy between Harper and Dombrowski at least twice in this calendar year. I wonder if Bryce is on board with this or whether they even ran it by him first.

The thing with Arraez is that it's really his *only* skill. He's not a good fielder, he can't run, he doesn't have any pop.

Oh sure, I get why it's happening. But, in any universe, five teams in five seasons which contain three (and possibly four) batting crowns is remarkable.
